Anyone in the LA Area? What's a Must See?

My truck driver son is out there with his girlfriend and has some down time. I'd love for him to see some things of interest before heading back east.

He went to see the Queen Mary earlier today, but I'd like to suggest some points of interest.

The problem is that he's dragging around a 40' trailer and would need places where parking is available for tractor trailers.

TIA

I loved the science/dinosaur museum near the LaBrea Tar Pits. It's really fun. I don't know how big the parking lot is, but this is in an area of museums downtown and it might have parking for him.

The best museum of art imo in LA is the Getty. You park below and take a little train up to the summit of a hill. Stunning view of LA, and a lovely museum. He might like the view as much as the art.

I love Santa Monica for shopping and bistros. He can park wherever is good for him and get there by public transit via the Santa Monica Blvd. bus.

Re: Anyone in the LA Area? What's a Must See?

He just posted some pics....he made it to the Pacific....rolled his jeans up and went in up to his knees!!!! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I know this sounds so stupid, but I'm soooooo happy for him. He works so hard and I'm glad he had some time for himself. He is living his dream, but in reality he's living my dream too. I've always wanted to travel and really haven't gotten far. I've been wanting to see CA and the Pacific since I was in HS (graduated in '71) and to see him kicking up some water in the Pacific warmed my heart!!!

Oh! How much do I love the Pacific Ocean!! I can feel his glee. Smiley Happy

Anyway, one thing that's probably kind of silly that I love is Universal Studios. I've been there numerous times and always loved the tours.

There might be some TV shows to see. I would have no idea what's currently filming but going to a live filming of a tv show is always a fun thing.

CB.....I think I'm more gleeful than he is!!!

I'm going to mention Universal to him.....I don't think he's going to have too much down time. (if he doesn't work he doesn't get paid....he's an owner/operator).

Many posters mentioned several cool places! I would like to add, many places along the coast are free, or charge a few bucks for parking even with a trailer.. You could do some fun things that are almost free. Like visit Hollywood, take a home tour, go up to the Hollywood sign. go to Warner Brothers Studio (a tour is 40 to 50 bucks) but it is fun. I love Venice Beach myself, the LaBrea tar pits, the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History the list goes on.

I'm not in LA, but the weather on the coast is supposed to be gorgeous all week! Just a great week to get out on foot and do some hiking. There are great beach trails all along the coast.

Hey Burnsite

We could be touring buddies. The places you mentioned are my fav's. My cousin had her artwork bought for the permanent collection at the Getty. Santa Monica is a gorgeous city! Love the pier, and talk about shopping....oh my. It is also next to Malibu. We take cabs or transit sometimes because parking is awful, and it cost so much for the lots! It cost 50 dollars a night to park our car at the hotel last time. The museum at La Brea is awesome.

There is also the holocaust museum and MOMA.

When I was in high school, we'd take field trips to the Huntington Library & Gardens in San Marino. One of my favorite places to visit.
