Re: Anyone have this issue with their Le Crueset?

This happened to me after one use. I browned a roast before putting in oven. I didn't have it on high over flame but it's a knob to turn up and down so who knows. I just considered it christened when I couldn't get the black off.

@haddon9 Oh no! How frustrating that must be because Le Crueset isn't cheap!

I have 2 white Le Creuset pots that I've had for years and the outside looks brand new and like I say...they are white.

I also have an electric stove and clean them as soon as I see any signs of discoloration (best to n!p it in the bud). I've used BarKeepers Friend and a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice with success.

I hope you can salvage those! Good luck.

Re: Anyone have this issue with their Le Crueset?

I have a turquoise frying pan with the handle the same as yours and also a dutch oven from Le Crueset.  Both are pristine on the bottom and mine go in the dishwasher without any pre-cleaning.

They are used solely on the range, never in the oven and I always use olive oil for what I use these pans for.

I cook with gas.

I honestly don't think the blackening is from gas.  None of my pans have black on the bottoms.  I have stainless steel frying pans and sauce pans.

If you seriously think this is from your gas stove, maybe there's something about the flame that's *off*?

Re: Anyone have this issue with their Le Crueset?

Wow! My lecrueset is from the 70's,  I use gas stove and I've never had the bottoms look like that. My All Clad does however require regular bottom cleaning with Bar Keepers after use but that's it.

Hmmmm most of my cast iron cookers do go into the oven rather than stove top though. 🤷🏻‍♀️
