Anyone have experience with Lumbar Stenosis?

My dad (83) was diagnosed with Lumbar Stenosis a few years ago. He's under an Orthopedist's care and takes a prescription that's supposed to help with it some. He's having a horrible time with it this weekend. He can't sit down at all. He has to either stand or find a comfortable (enough) position lying down. My husband and I saw him this morning and tried to get him to go to the ER but he wants to wait a few days and see if the pain subsides. And he said he wouldn't be able to tolerate sitting in the car.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
