Hi everyone.
Our cat Twister, age 19.5, is hyperthyroid and is frequently constipated/obstipated.
We currently give him 1/2 tsp Miralax 2 times a day in wet food, a small amount of hairball remedy as a treat and also feed Authority dry food for sensitive stomach. Today he had his every 6 month geriatric exam. Of course, despite the above, he is again backed up. The vet suggested resuming Lactulose in addition to the above.
She also suggested a low residue diet. They had a bag of Iams Veterinary Formula (prescription) Intestinal Plus (formerly low residue) for us to try with him.
Does anyone else use this? What has been your experience?
Are there any other OTC formulas out there? Have you done anything else for your chronically constipated/obstipated cat?
Twister isn't interested in canned pumpkin. He sniffs it and walks away. He is quite the picky eater.
If anyone can offer any suggestions, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.
