I am excited as one of my DD friends from high school will be playing on the US women's soccer team for the third time. Also hope to see the first ever team made up of refugees. G-d Bless them.

Despite all the fiascos so far and so many great athletes not competing, I am still excited to watch. I love the Olympics.

Absolutely NOT. Could care less about the Olympics and it stopped tomorrow no loss. All full of politics now and drug use and cheating and commercialism.... the whole purpose for what the games stood for is gone... it is now nothing more than a shell of what it use to be.

I really hate the way they do it now. It really is confusing. And sometimes they replay the same even multiple times during the day or overnight hours, but they edit it differently. Very frustrating.
I'll watch opening ceremonies and some events, but not too many. I prefer the winter events.

Yep -- I love the summer olympics especially. Beach volleyball, diving, gymnastics...

I do dislike how they cover the olympics these days though. I wish there were a channel that just showed all the major events from start to finish. Sometimes they will cut away to another sport in the middle of something I was watching and then never come back to the original one!! And it seems almost all the channels show the same things over and over so it isn't like you can record a few different channels and get different events.

I won't waste my time watching any of it.

I will be away in Canada this weekend, but look forward to watching when I return. It's about the athletes.
Every Olympics, just before the opening, the media talk about how unready the host is. Remember the UK and Peking Olympics?
Let's hope this denigration of Brazil is the same. Zika virus is now in Miami (no one knows quite how, as they haven't found a mosquito with it yet), so it's not exclusive to S America anymore.

I have the uneasy feeling that this particular Olympics is a disaster waiting to happen, due to the IOC being bribed into having it in Rio, which never should have happened. I'll consider it a success if no atheletes are killed, injured, maimed or assaulted by the residents of Rio and none of them are affected by the disease-ridden bodies of water they must compete in or the substandard housing they are offered.
As for watching - I agree with others, I don't enjoy watching the chopped up, abbreviated coverage much of the time. If Bob Costas is covering something the Mute button is hit immediately. I miss Jim McKay and ABC's coverage.

No. No excitement.
I am not being a drag but there are much more important 'activities' going on in the world rather than Olympics - We Are At War.
