@Bri36  My sister bought HERSELF a new car 3 years ago at Christmastime.  She told the salesman she'd buy it only if it came with a big red bow.  She got her bow which she later put to some other practical use (can't remember what).

For all that yearn for a New Car, I hope your wish is fulfilled. As for me ,I would rather have more personal items, as gifts

For me a car is utilitarian, sort of like getting a washing machine as a gift.

I always told my husband we get personal things for gifts. We buy the stuff we need ,and they are not gifts, they are genuine needs

And yes there was a big red bow. Looked so pretty as the car is very dark green.

I may be in the minority, but I wouldn’t like that at all. 

I want to pick out my own car. 

Many years ago, the husband of a friend of mine surprised her with a new car for Christmas. To be brutally honest, it was a car that HE wanted so he bought it and called it a gift to her. And then she rarely got to drive it because he was always driving it. And......he financed it. 

I would have been livid.

Nope. Never got a car. But one year my husband and son bought me something much better . . . . a fishing license. That fishing license meant everything to me, because the only time I would ever use it was with them. That fishing license represented their desire to share their beloved hobby, their beloved time at the lake with me, and turn it into family time. Could there ever be a better gift?

Never did and most likely never will... but it's always been a fantasy... You know, perpetrated by the car commercials... I'd also suspect that anyone who knows and loves someone well enough to buy them a new car for Christmas would most likely have some idea of what they like in a car...
