Seriously? It's soooo not healthy. Poor veins, heart, liver are working overtime to fix all the damage this creates....leaching out all the important minerals in ones system & bones to neutralize all this acid. Plus zero nutrition. like I said before....Healthy Endothelium is where it's at!!
Different strokes for different folks!
Odd you should say "strokes"...that's what one usually GETS when eating stuff like you described.
A Healthy Endothelium is where it's at!! Low Fat Whole Food Plant based diet! (See Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn...LOVE him!)
Nope, eating fats do not cause strokes. Replacing fats with carbs will though. Fats are necessary for the body to function.
Saturated fats cause plaque, which inflames the Endothelium...that will injure the cellular wall causing strokes/heart attacks. Inflamed Endothelium is a precursor to Cancer, as well. Fat in the diet gunks up the blood. All that inflammation & the body will revolt. You might be a size 4 on the outside, but if you're veins are gunky, what's the point? Carbohydrates are needed for body function....carbohydrates in the form of plant based whole foods. Lots & lots of potatoes will not make you fat....it's the fat & animal product you put ON them is what causes an inflamed Endothelium.
Great for you that you have found something that works FOR YOU.
But it appears to have done little to nothing for your cranky attitude towards anyone else with a different theory of healthy living.
Potatoes turn into sugar in the body - a definite no-no for many people with diabetes or pre-diabetes.
So what works for you might be poison to other people.
Unfortunately fads may come & go, but we're all the same on the inside....it's Human Body 101. God designed it that way. Hopefully it won't be too late before someone realizes this simple, basic fact.

Did you ever stop and think that YOUR way of eating is a fad too?
And finding fat in lettuce is more than a bit extreme?

Whoa, that's not true at all, and there is no Human Body 101.
For sure we are NOT all the same on the inside and your allegation is NOT a simple, basic fact.
Haven't you read about all the studies on medicine and treatments throughout the years that turned out not to work on women? All studies, for a very long time, were done on men only, and when put into practice, did not work the same on women.
Pain medication was the most glaring difference for a long time, and that's just one example.

So is her thinking, and it's incorrect.

Many posters on these boards would like to think it was my idea, but many, many Doctors...and many, many civilizations throughout the World....think this is correct.
Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn
Dr. T. Colin Campbell
Dr. Neal Barnard
Dr. John McDougall
Dr. Pam Popper
Dr. Dean Ornish
Dr. Milton Mills
etc., etc., etc.
I'm personally vested in his topic. I have a friend that is very slender, exercises every day...on the outside appears very fit & healthy. But she eats meat, dairy & eggs. I've known her for 10+ yrs...we've always joked I was the Veggie Girl & she the Meat Girl. She's all about the Paleo, "Bro-tein", supplements, Crossfit nonsense.
Six months ago, my friend had a Stroke. To this day, I see her struggle w/ simple things that came natural to her in yrs past. So am I going to be quiet about this subject? Nope!! I do it to educate. If my posts just piques the interest of ONE member on these boards wanting to know the Truth, it's a success. I'm speaking out on behalf of my friend & others that have fallen to the negative effects of an animal based, processed diet high in saturated fats.
People will continually try to find good things about their bad diet...when the correct answer is right under their nose. Starches are evil? Don't think so. Like the saying goes, 'how can a billion Chinese be wrong?". Low Fat While Foods Plant Based for optimum health & healthy Endothelium makes a heart happy!

Starches are bad for diabetics, as one example. In fact, the classes they now make diabetics take stress counting carbs NOT sugar.
It used to be sugar, now they emphasize limiting carbs.
It's not true that we are all the same on the inside or that carbs aren't bad for some people. And for sure it's not true that the only thing you have to consider or be protective of is the lining of your veins and arteries.

My sister is 5'6" - weighs 100 pounds and has done 3 Iron Man Triathalons.
She also had a stroke at 36.
Attributing your friend's diet to a stroke w/o any evidence is just wrong.
Your zealotry is frightening.
