We went to Fort Richardson National Cemetery yesterday to visit Kermit Roosevelt's grave. He was TR's son. Depression ran through the family and after a military life, he committed suicide. Strangely, he is in a section with many newborn graves from Spring 1953. Must have been an epidemic.

Maybe it's me tonight, but I'm finding it is moving verrrry slowly, IMO. It's nearly an hour in, and I decided to go do some other things. Maybe I can watch it tomorrow and fast forward through some parts.

Sadly, I'm finding it dry as well. I am not learning much that I didn't already know.

Years ago, when Ken Burns created the series on baseball, I would stick a VHS, at the time, into the recorder every evening, and I managed to record the entire series. DH watched it, and still has the tapes today, in case he ever has time to watch again.
It's on right now!!!!

I guess I'm easily entertained because I found it very interesting. I can't say that Theodore Roosevelt comes across as likeable, but he certainly was maniacal in his drive to achieve greatness. What a sadness he suffered with his mother's and wife's death all at once.

have to say that kermits son, kermit jr, helped orchestrate a lot of problems in the middle east, particularly in iran, with the help of the CIA.......all in the name of OIL!

Fabulous !
I marvel at Ken Burn's ability to make a photograph so much like a film clip or action shot.
Eleanor was a lovely young woman and TR and FDR were so handsome.
