Re: Anyone else in Southern California melting?

[ Edited ]

I think it is too hot to work inside the closet to toss things out.

I returned to the closet to get some things to toss,  and then come back to hang out in the forum.   I think by my actions I don't want to do the closet thing today.....well maybe a tiny bit for a while.... and rest and do more again later.... and rest.... soon it will be done.  Doing this I think to myself.....boy that is a nice jacket or top,  and that is a nice pant set too...but they still got to go because I seem to not wear them anymore.   Any ways...it is hot inside that closet.

I was going to go work inside the garage but rethinked that thing to do today.   Might be the heat that is frying the part of the brain that thinks.   Oh it is not all that hot..... just getting lazy today I guess....but I know for a fact about myself I will get lots of large black plastic bags full before the day it over.   And I am not whining..... I am sharing plans today in this warm weather of today.

The aliens called earth to say thank you for its generous return policy.

Obviously it's far too lenient.

@abbeythe 8th

Hi abbey!  We do not have A/C, but we have a whole house fan in the stair well upstairs, that thing is like a/c.  BUT, there are certain conditions it works.  It has to be cooler outside, and you need to be able to open windows.  What this huge reverse fan does when on is, draw hot air out of home and then pull cool air in from outside.  We live near the ocean, and although we get hot here, it usually cools down a lot at night!  The fan is a life saver.  We cannot use it during the day in hot weather, but have to wait.  Usually we leave it on all night, by 4am it is cold in house.  Then we close windows, and it usually stays cool in home during a heat wave until 2pm when house starts warming up.

We also have great casa blanca fans in all bedrooms, and I add a small vornado fan on floor by bed.  It helps us survive.  For us getting A/C is a matter of a new furnace and ducts, and re doing an area for a new furnace up to code, as our home and heater is nearly 50 years old.  We remodeled master bed and bath this past year.  IDk why we didn't throw in a/c for another 14,000, but I couldn't stand the idea of any more construction work.  But it is on our drawing board for next year, with a new back yard and a pond!!  I want a koi pond!

Re: Anyone else in Southern California melting?

Noel, thank you for your concern about our kitties!

Thank God it is only eighty here and cloudy today. The cats seem much more comfortable. They are drinking copius amounts of water and moving around a bit more. I even caught our little girl, tiggie couch hunting this morning. she sits on the arm of the den couch and hisses at the squirrels that come on the lawn out the door.

We left a fan on this am when we ran our sat. errands.

The sky is grey and very creepy. It is very odd the air is still and the leaves are falling from the eucalyptus trees like snow.

I'm glad to hear that, henny Smiley Happy

The weather here is odd, also.  A real chill in the air and totally overcast and still.  Such a big difference from the previous weekdays, not that I'm complaining.

@NoelSeven

Isn't the weather totally insane?  Good grief,, yesterday we were melting in the 3 digits, today we woke up to around 67 and cool.  Right now it is a cool 80 degrees.  What a difference a day makes!  The sky is covered with a thick white haze.   I have the windows open, and a cool refreshing breeze wafts in from the walnut trees out front.

Let's keep on topic here .... this thread is about weather in Southern CA ... NOT about field workers and supposedly slanted stories and movies.     If you want to start your own thread about that topic, you are welcome to take it elsewhere.

Amen ;-)

Kind of creepy weather today. Just as hot but no sun. It's tomorrow ours is supposed to break. Fingers crossed. It didn't "look" hot, but going outside, down & back upstairs and I was very damp 😟

I'd like to think we'll get some of the sprinkles Mon/Tues but near the cost we usually miss out.
