Re: Anyone else in Southern California melting?

evelyner, remember the days when we wore wool dresses and stockings to services-----aaaak. Now we go to Hillel at the University and the kids wear sundresses and sandals. I plan on an issac M. lace dress and sandals. Much better.

The thought of eating outside in this heat wouldn't work for me.

No one in Santa Barbara has AC. We rely on the ocean breezes to cool us.

Told mr henny that if we have too much more heat he can look for me at the Biltmore.

There's lots of rain and flash floods from Santa Clarita to Orange County. I think maybe San Benadino is getting some as well.

RAIN????  really??  Good grief, that is really unusual.  But I read something about thunderstorms.  The ground is so hard and dry, the rain must bounce off the ground!

It's pretty unusual but thunderstorms do happen sometimes in summertime. The weather is super hot so the rain is nice but the dry ground means lots of flash floods. Newport and Huntington beaches were evacuated because of lightning strikes.

Ha ha  Hennypenny, I always tell everyone that we have to wait for Yom Kippur for the the heat to stop, although we build a succah and 2 years ago we had to eat inside it was so hot.

Not going to happen in. So. Ca. It's hot here through October, if we are lucky it is cooler for Halloween.

@hennypenny

It seems all along the coast not many have a/c.  I know when we go to Pismo, Avila Beach, Capitola, and most hotels in Monterey....no a/c!  Lots of fans though, and doors that have security porches to open toward the beach for cooling.

BTW henny, I received my order from McConnells ice cream!  6 quarts and it came frozen solid in 100+ weather.  I am nervous though for tomorrow, I am expecting another 6 qts, and it is 105 degrees!

Re: Anyone else in Southern California melting?

Yesterday it was extremely hot and we had hail in Julian which is East County San Diego. Really bizarre!

I know most of us are aware of this but please look after your neighbors who are elderly and ill. I'm in good health and this weather is exhausting me.

Thanks for the important alert, but it's not just elderly/senior persons who are ill or not.

There are many of us of every age who aren't independent, whose bodies can't cope with high temps or  bad humidity, outside or  inside.

And it can be equally life-threatening.

Sending out good vibes to those trying desperately to cope...

I hope that relief is found ASAP.

Tomoorow, thursday is forecast to be 108.  I am just so sick of this weather.  I want our old seasons back.  Although as history tells it, September has some of the hottest temps on record.  I am praying for El Nino, rain, sweet rain

Hey, SK... Cat Tongue

Autumn is actually warmer than Spring, as it comes right after the summer instead of winter.

My favorite daytime temps - and dry air! - won't start arriving until sometime in October.  ;-)

San Mateo is 101 right now, other areas will get to at least 106 today.

Weather reports keep saying there is no AC in almost all of the Bay Area, true.

The crime is that there are also almost NO cooling centers for those who have trouble with the heat.

That's scary and dangerous for those who are not used to dealing with this kind of heat. Smiley Sad

I posted this earlier, but NOAA.gov recorded the high in San Francisco today at 1:43pm, it was 93, or was it 96?  Good Lord, now I forget.  But I know it was at least 93.  Seriously, that is hot for San Francisco.  When I have been there is seems really hot at 80 degrees!

It was 80 degrees at 6:30 a.m. I have had my a/c on high cool for an hour and my bedroom is now "only" 86 degrees. Ugh.
