I didn't realize AOL as around anymore either. I haven't used it since the 90s and still had dial up.

I'd rather endure a beating than talk to the AOL techs in India. You can't understand half of what they say. If you have a problem, usually they can't fix it so after wasting an hour or two of your time, they hang up on you.
I came to an impasse with them when I could sign on to the site but could not receive any emails. They couldn't fix it so I had to quit using it.

I thought they were long out of business. In fact, I don't even know if they offer browser service? Can't use google Chrome? Fire Fox?

I am an AOL junkie. I recently read an article telling AOL users they date themselves when they tell people they use AOL. I hate the thought of learning something new so I just keep rolling along. If I am dating myself so be it, I'm an old fogy and I'm happy with what I have.

@Lindsays Grandma- You know the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Well, that's what I'd say to anyone who implied that you (or anyone) is an old fogey for keeping your AOL account.
I spent a career in I.T. and I use other email accounts and more than one browser. But I still keep my AOL emails and I have no intention of giving them up until the company goes out of business (and I don't see that happening any time soon).
(People can be such snobs, when it comes to technology. They'd be surprised at how many large businesses still run mainframes - because, quite frankly, some of the newer servers just can't handle the systems these businesses run. Not everything new is better.)

I have several email accounts, but my main one is AOL. I've had it since the 90's, no problems ever, and so I still use it.
I haven't heard anything about AOL Gold.

I didn't even know AOL exists yet. lol. I know no one on AOL anymore. I left it many years ago. Don't need it. My Internet server has a major news page. I chat w my son on facebook chat. I chat w my daughter via my email to her text (I hate texting on a phone and hardly do it, and I'm home alot so I can do email to her text). Of course we also talk on the phone too. But Id never pay for AOL, IMO no one needs it anymore.
