I get one that says something about how my request could not be completed.

I guess that's better than the "An Error Has Occurred  An Error Has Occurred" one.  Reminds me of the computers at work.  A new person would freak out whenever an error message would show up that said "Fatal Error."  Those of use who'd worked there for awhile would just laugh and x-out of it.  They should have an air-raid siren go off with some of these error messages to add to the drama.

Hi, @mistriTsquirrel  The reason for the "request" error depends upon what you were trying to do when it happened, but it's most likely related to a website problem.    A "fatal error" usually means any changes we tried to make  were lost and we'll have to perform the task again.

I only get this on my desk top computer. Not on my iPad . My desktop is  at least 10 years old....no more updates. That is probably why.

@SeaMaiden,   It very likely will fix this error if you'll delete the flash cookies on the device (how you do this depends on what kind of computer you're using -- you can find instructions with an internet search).   I don't think the older software is creating the problem, but there's a slight possibility it is...  I'd be more concerned that the lack of updates means lack of security updates, and I'd be very cautious about using the device for any transmission of personal, financial, or sensitive information.

@dooBdoo   Thanks so much for your answers, that help out so many of us!  I used to ask my son questions like this all the time, and he had the answers, but now that he has two kids and is very occupied with his time...I leave him alone!

@goldensrbest   and @YorkieonmyPillow,  "HTML" is the programming language used on this website.    It's used for web applications and web pages.   This error message merely indicates the site has checked our post for possible embedded, hidden code that might be malicious or at the least might cause superficial problems.   As @GCR18 noted, most often we see it when we include something like an image or an emoticon to the post.   Nearly 100% of the time, after we hit "post" a second time we won't see any noticeable changes to the content of our reply.

Thanks, @september, and you're welcome!   I try my best, and others here on the forums do, too.

@SeaMaiden,  That's good but it doesn't address the problem of corrupted "supercookies" residing on the device or potential holes in the security of older versions of software.
