Anyone else get an itsy bitsy IRS check or deposit?

Last week I noticed a deposit from the IRS for $10.20 to my checking account.  I have been wondering why.

Today, I just read on the website of our local paper that the IRS is sending money averaging about $18 to about 14 million Americans.

This generous windfall is the interest to cover the IRS delays in processing 2019 tax returns returns this year.

I still don't understand.  I did my taxes in July and had my refund in about a week....it was deposited really fast.

It probably cost more to send this than it is worth.

That was decent of them.....they fine us when we're late.....good to know they fine themselves when they are.

I had to pay in so..........no interest $ here.

I e-filed in July and got my direct deposit refund in a week...now I got another direct deposit..interest only.  I couldn't figure out why I got another deposit.

I am glad everyone is getting their money due to them.

We always have to pay at tax time so I'm sure DH and I will see no windfall.

Re: Anyone else get an itsy bitsy IRS check or deposit?

I read that the IRS was going to be doing this and I'm happy for those that receive it. I just wish I could have gotten the full $1200 stimulus amount earlier this year. I didn't make enough money to file a 2019 tax return as a retiree, so the IRS used my 2018 return to calculate my payment. I was still working in 2018, and my gross income included IRA distributions needed to buy my home. That pushed me into a higher income tax bracket, which is not a true reflection of my financial status now. I feel like I was dropped in a hole that was overlooked.
