Why should grandparents and parents have to ""give in"" to their children in order to be in contact with them? It's like an unspoken ultimatum: You'd better text me or we won't be in contact with each other. Wouldn't it be really nice if children learned to give a little of themselves and make that phone call to make their grandparents happy? Just wondering...

.....but the phone is turned off.

eh~ I do both. If it is something important, I'm gonna call. If not, I'll probably text....

Re: Anyone else feel Lost in translation?

I told my son, years ago, that if he wanted to talk to me he would have to call.

No texts.

He agreed.

Re: Anyone else feel Lost in translation?

I don't know what bothers me more about my 13 year old niece's habits .... that her social & conversational skills aren't developing as well as she'll need in adulthood ...... or that schools aren't requiring CURSIVE WRITING TO BE TAUGHT. My sister is a bit crazed that she'll only be able to read printing, not writing.

WHAT is going on these days? {#emotions_dlg.angry}

I don't bother with texting. Waste of time for me. Email is bad enough. I also never carry my cell phone with me. It rests in the console of my car for auto emergencies only, unless I have to call someone to tell them I'm running late. I don't think I have to be in contact with people every minute of the day. How DID we survive all those years with none of this distraction?

I agree. I watch my girls texting texting texting to set up some sort of meeting or other....it takes FOREVER!! LOL! I keep saying JUST CALL it will be done in 2 minutes!!! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

Re: Anyone else feel Lost in translation?

Me lost? Nope! I've been into technology since before high school when it comes to electronic devices and working on them and learning about them.

Texting? For me it would be a waste of my time. I can talk quicker than I can type be it face to face or via the telephone. While I prefer face to face sometimes the best that is available is a good old fashioned phone call.

Sure, I know how to text and how to do most things that involve a smart or dumb phone, but I just ain't interested enough and it is not important enough for me spend my time doing it. Now if someone wants to text me? They will be waiting an eternity if they want to get a reply from me, and that includes my precious wife.

Re: Anyone else feel Lost in translation?

They (texters) must have tons of extra time on their hands every day..............Could they possibly be at work?

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
