Anyone else ever get a great upgrade?

After our Waldorf stay last year, I sent a nice "thank you" note to the manager. Maybe that helped get the Royal Suite!!!

As everyone knows from previous posts, I tip the housekeepers every day too.

Anyone else have any great stories about a very welcoming, hospitable place to stay?
