It's really good but it's so dark in the scenes. Are others noticing that also?

I'm really enjoying Churchill, but I didn't notice any dark scenes. Actually, it was beautifully filmed.

I came in at the middle, so couldn't really follow, but how could you go wrong with Michael Gambon and Lindsay Duncan? I have absolutely adored her for years. A very talented and versatile actress.
I love British history and have read quite a bit about the Churchills. In addition to his stroke, many people didn't know he suffered from bouts of depression throughout his life.
He overcame such a sad and bizarre childhood and survived his father to become one of his country's greatest heroes.
I recommend reading Jennie: The Life of Lady Randolph Churchill by Ralph Martin for insight into Churchill's childhood.

I always have to adjust my TV for the darker Masterpiece shows. I'm glad now I know. The filming is beautiful but the scenes are often VERY dark.

Yes, it's dark but I think it's to make the film look like the time period.
