Re: Anyone Try Spicy Honey?

[ Edited ]

I might try it as a glaze on salmon.  Kinda like a bourbon glaze.... Or what about waffles! sweet potato fries, chicken fingers, poppers.... sounds yummie

I haven't tried it yet. I did accidentally buy the spicy version of Progresso vegetable soup. It was too spicy for me, but if you like mega spice, try it, or as we say in my family, run it up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes.

I've been buying Mike's Hot Honey for a couple of years.  I love it.  I make a chili oil and add a small amount of Hot Honey to it for that hot/sweet balance.

I use my chili oil with everything from drizzling over roasted vegetable, salmon, chicken, add a bit for a kick to my pasta sauce, etc.

I add the Hot Honey to my Nashville Hot sauce for chicken sandwiches too.

I love your ideas!  Like chili oil & honey, think I will try that with shrimp egg rolls.

@rockygems123  I'll have to keep an eye out for that!  Thanks!

A while ago someone on the boards mentioned Cranberry Jalapeño jelly.  I looked up the recipe online and made a batch this morning.  I had to wait till the fresh cranberries were out.  It's really good.  We love hot and spicy foods.  DW

That sounds absolutely delicious I'm going to look for the recipe yum.

@eadu4   I say that about Montreal Seasoning.........I put it on everything.

Same here. I never roast a chicken without it. I brush melted butter on the chicken so the Montreal seasoning sticks.  Then on cut up raw veg that surrounds the chicken gets same treatment only with their Chicken seasoning.

I do not know how many of you remember, but there was a young college student; I do not recall his name; that sold an assortment of honey with the help of his mother here at The Q. It debuted during an ITKWD segment. One of the flavors was spicy and I LOVED it. I really miss it, so I look forward to trying this. Thanks for posting!!!

@rockygems123   The recipe I used is at the site chilipeppermadness .com.  It's called cranberry-jalapeño jelly.  I used a cup less sugar, used cranberry juice instead of water and waterbathed the jars.  Usually jelly recipes call for 10 minutes in the water bath, but because of our altitude I added 15 minutes to that..It's a nice consistency a soft jell and holds its shape on a spoon...DW

Thank you!  I really appreciate the tips too.  What is your altitude?  We are 5350 ft here.
