I don't know why, but I'm endlessly fascinated with this phenomena, probably because I never lived where you can see it live. There has been a lot of activity the past few days due to electrical storms on the sun. i've found a couple of good web sites.
The first is in Northern Sweden and is best seen in the early evening as it gets dawn there when it's late at night here. I like this one best.
The second is in Yellow Knife, NWT, Canada, and is a project of the Canadian space agency. It seems to be cloudy there quite often, in which case you see nothing but clouds. It's cloudy tonight but I've seen some good shows earlier this week.
