Okay, so I am from the Stone Age, but I understood the military test fires things away from populations. It was seen in Arizona? From the CA coastline? That's a stretch, a real stretch. We see the missles fired off from Lompoc but we know from years of living here what they look like. Our local news last night stated it was a missle but that's what they are fed and they pass it on. Doesn't make sense.

Wow! How lucky are you! A pool-- overlooking the ocean AND water!
Has it officially been confirmed what it was you saw?

It has been confirmed that it was a gov. test. It was a missile fired from a submarine off of our coast.

Yes, lots of reports of sightings in Arizona, also.
LR, just because it was shot from the CA coastline doesn't mean the trajectory stayed at the coast. They've done a lot of tests involving desert areas. Who knows? They're not saying.

A friend of mine saw it and she said the photos don't do it justice. It was huge and very frightening. She really thought it was a missle attack and screamed at her husband to get the kids indoors. She realized if it was an attack they were doomed but it was all she could think of doing at the time to try to protect her family : (

I saw it and it was amazing! However, since I had heard that morning about LAX re routing ocean take offs due to military maneuvers off the coast, I sort of knew that's what it was.. But if I hadn't...well the imagination runs wild!
and the pictures doNOT do it justice.....

That's true, lol. And imaginations were running wild with a few in the Twittersphere, which is why I was loathe to comment on it the night it happened.
There were news claims it was a meteor, from news sources. Not like any meteor that I ever saw before.
