Ego, fame, money. The usual. He says that leaders, such as generals and cabinet secretaries have written books and told stuff so why not him. But that's the old excuse that kids try with their parents - "But Mom, everyone else is doing it!"
Just to be clear, the SEAL is correct. There have been others that have disclosed information of operations that should never have went public. Zero Dark Thirty had co-op from the top on down and even the VP outed Seal Team Six. So, take it for what it is. I don't agree with what he is doing but he does have a point and you just made it for him by your post.

I do not know about legal repercussions. However, I personally think that a certain amount of humility for myself and my fellow soldiers would trump any type of book deal or speaking engagements but hey....that's just me.

Once that barn door is open, it's open and the horses ain't going back in.

He should have kept his mouth shut. There still exists a code.

Lots of people should have kept their mouths shut, but they didn't. You can't hold this SEAL to a different standard than those that are in charge.

I was answering the question in the OP.

Gee, you really misinterpreted what I was saying. I never said he wasn't correct. My point, as I made clear in comparing him to kids who use the same excuse, is that just because someone else does something doesn't make it right nor does it follow that it's OK for you to do it. Generals and cabinet officials sometimes get away with things but I would have thought a Navy Seal would have more honor.

Well, now that he's claimed the deed, let's see if he lives a long life---you know there are terrorists right here in this country who would probably love to get some revenge.
That's the risk he's taking, and if anything happens to him it's his own fault AND it'll probably keep the rest of them quiet in the future.

The only life he's jeopardizing is his own. I wish him good luck with that.
