Re: Anyone Else Tired Of These Sayings

Not really a saying, but I am tired of hearing "This was on Oprah's list." Big whooptidoo! If anything, that pushes me to NOT buy it.  Like she is this ICON that everyone takes her opinions as gospel.  The hosts always act so impressed.  I wonder if they really are or are just told to push her name as a selling point.

          I am so tired of hearing "as well"!!  Every weather person uses it at least three times in one sentence.  And now, the news people and shopping channel people have adopted the words...yikes!!

@corita10 "hearts"!!  It's especially grating when used in the same sentence with "and" or "also."  Talk about repetition!

LR started that phrase "PS &  .........."  on PM Style, and I thought she was hinting that she had hurry to the powder room~!

Re: Anyone Else Tired Of These Sayings

@jeanlake  Thank you!  You've provided the name of the phenomenon known as T-glottalization. Nice to know it's a recognized occurrence.  I've noticed this particularly in the younger millenial crowd.  We have a local newscaster who does this.  The other day his pronunciation of Clinton was Cli hun.  He does this all the time with words.  So odd.

@faeriemoon  I'm with you.  The current use of so to begin every sentence is rampant. Not cool.  Drives me batty.

Full stop, reach out. growing our family...ugh.

Re: Anyone Else Tired Of These Sayings

And "okay" is some kind of placeholder between phrases.

"So I went to the store, okay, to get some beer, okay, and they were out."

@esmerelda

WE are never pregnant !   The woman is pregnant!  I can't stand that "we" and pregnant are said together.  When the man gets to carry the baby for 9 months, endure morning sickness, has to visit the bathroom every 5 minutes then goes through labor and delivery he can be included in "we" are pregnant!  Until then, only she is pregnant!

None of those sayings 'bother' me, but I'm not easily offended.
