Anyone Else Receive Invitation to Wedding Requesting Honeymoon Donation?

I just cannot believe how money-grabbing some young people are!!! My nephew lives in Vegas, been married twice before. He has a daughter from first marriage, none from second, but a daughter from relationship with third woman They have been living together in a very nice home the bride-to-be owns. I bought gifts for his first and second marriage, but this last one just is too much to take. If I wanted to attend the wedding, I would also have to pay for flying to Vegas for the wedding. Is this common now???? I sure hope not!

We haven't received that kind of request but I've heard of it being done.

I just am floored by it. My late hubby and I had a small wedding with reception at our church. We didn't take a honeymoon because we couldn't afford it and would never have anyone to give us money to pay for it.

No. I've never had this happen before. Very poor taste.

Hi glorybe, are you saying if you attend you must donate to the couple's honeymoon?

Nothing surprises me anymore.

So many things have been excused by so many people, I don't know why anyone is outraged by anything.

Yknow that's our thinking too, people used to just not have a honeymoon if they couldn't afford it. Too much of a spotlight on " what can we get at our wedding" instead of focus on the joy of love & marriage imho
