I'm too cheap to pay delivery fees and tips, especially on something like fast food fried chicken. I'd rather just run down and pick it up myself. Excuse for a short trip out of the house.

@bikerbabe Yes, DoorDash is another one. I just happened to have the Grubhub app. That's why I used them.
It's not cheap but if you REALLY want something good, it's worth it.

@Krimpette Yes! That is exactly how they come in handy.
Don't you agree that if you want something specific and the place doesn't deliver and you don't want to go get it, it's worth the money?

@Kachina624 That's fine, if there's one that is convenient to you. No so, for me.

@Annabellethecat66 Especially these days we use Grub Hub, DoorDash & UberEats. They come in handy if the restaurant you're ordering from doesn't deliver directly. You just have to be careful of surge delivery costs & service charges.
Sometimes they will advertise free delivery but hit you with a 20% service charge. So just be aware everytime you order, & remember to check before you complete your order.
These services are very efficient. When they make a mistake they immediately make it right.

I've seen the commercials, but never tried it. Nice the way they deliver to schools. The kids were sooo excited!

@NicksmomESQ Yes! Your post was well written and explains it better than I did.
My daughter in Denver works from home. She did have the virus. She lives alone with her dog.
A few years ago she broke her knee skiing, it all came in handy then.
She often surprises me by ordering things if I say I'm thinking about this or that.
We do weird (different) stuff in our family. I just sent her a huge roll of toilet paper.
She couldn't find any so I sent it to her along with some silly things I know she'd like.
It cost me a little less than $14 just to mail a box that was so light and tiny. I couldn't send it in one of those post office boxes, wouldn't fit and I didn't want to squish it.
I can see why people don't mail stuff much anymore. It's way too expensive. But places like QVC and other's get such cheap rates, the public has to make up the difference.

@LyndaGee I saw on TV where McDonald's is giving free hamburgers to people who help keep the country going these days.
Not just Drs and nurses, but trash collectors, people who have been working through this.
That's nice I think. I like it when say trash collectors and people we don't think about are still out there working every day. People like grocery store clerks, etc.

With delivery fees for some places, (with and without their own delivery service), starting at about five bucks and then add in the expectation that you tip the driver another five bucks, ordering delivery is something I do rarely. The price for the food alone can often be pricey but then when you tack another ten bucks onto the price before you even get to the food, I have to want something really, really badly... There are a few places that only tack on a two or so dollar delivey fee and I'm more inclined to use them... Now with the nonsense going on out there, I have seen a nunber of places offering free delivery and have wondered if it's for real...

@ECBGSome of the same people who work Uber also work Grubhub - and that's also true of Lyft and other food-delivery services. There's lots of overlap as the drivers push to earn a full living.
Last winter a friend and I hired an Uber driver she frequently used to take us to a concert. The driver picked us up at her home and took us to the venue and agreed to come pick us up several hours later. While he was in that neighborhood, he used the time to make several food deliverires for nearby restaurants instead of sleeping in the parking lot or driving aimlessly around.
