Re: Anybody Going to Go to the Dentist When They Re-Open?

[ Edited ]

@Anonymous032819 Me. Had my last cleaning in March, just before the non-essential business were closed BUT my dental practice sends email updates periodically AND are available for emergencies.

My next cleaning is in September and unless I'm dead (haha) I will be there. As a diabetic and being 72 my dental health has always been VERY important to me.

Bad dental health can lead to many other health problems.

In their emails detailed info was given about sanitization, etc. and the staff has always used universal precautions.

I had an emergency and went about 10 days ago.   No problems

My April appointment for cleaning was moved to June. I need a filling replaced now too.

So yes, I will go.

Unless stay at home has been extended. Then I'll reschedule again.

Yes. My hygienist wears a mask and a plastic face shield much like a welders hat. I have no problem going. I'm just waiting for them to call and schedule me.

Re: Anybody Going to Go to the Dentist When They Re-Open?

I need a cleaning, but I'm holding off even trying to re-schedule anything for now. Plenty of time to floss and brush and swish perfectly at least.

If I had an emergency of any kind, and if telehealth weren't enough, it would be worth it to me to go in. Anything less than very urgent, I will try to wait.

Re: Anybody Going to Go to the Dentist When They Re-Open?

Dentistry is undoubtedly the WORST profession in terms of spreading a virus.  I get a checkup and cleaning twice a year and was due next month.  I will wait many more months. After I had femur surgery and pins placed even though I was cleared by my surgeon to go to the dentist I waited a year and a half because I knew the potential dangers. My dentist marveled at the excellent job I did during that time. It is very possible to take care of your own teeth with diligent brushing and flossing if you have to.

Wear a mask. Social distance. Be part of the solution - not part of the problem.

My brother has had to go to the dentist during this as a crown came off his tooth.

They will see on emergency basis.

My next appt is scheduled for July, so will wait and see what the local situation is at that time.

WV was the last state to have cases, and we are close to 800 now, with 12-16 counties identified as hot spots.   I think we are a long way from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

My next appt is somewhere around early July.  Unless we're on stay at home orders, I'll go.
