DH and I need to book a flight to visit our grandson in November. American flies direct from our city to theirs, and we have some AA miles accumulating and would like to keep building those if we can (and need some activity on our account so they don't expire). I'd like to book our flight with them, but I'm wary because of all the delays and problems they're having lately. I'm pretty sure United is a non-stop option for us, too, so it might be safer to use them for now; but I just wondered if anyone has any opinion on whether flying with AA is too big a risk of having your trip really messed up in the near future, or am I being silly? I know no one ever REALLY knows what will happen, but I'm kind of wondering what any other AA travelers are choosing to do lately.
We don't get to see them very often and only go for a long weekend, so it would be a big disappointment if we lost most of a day of our limited time together because of the avoidable delays and slowdowns they seem to be having lately. Or am I going by old news? I do realize that ALL airlines run into unforeseeable delays sometimes.
Any thoughts?
