They seem to be aggressively pursuing customers through advertising. I've gotten may coupons for each, with Hello Fresh leading the pack with $20 - $40 off. Has anyone tried either? What has been your experience if you have.

HI @excpa we tried Hello Fresh several months ago, I signed up for the 2-person meals. The recipes were very easy to follow, and we learned different techniques (and tried different ingredients we never had). I cancelled because the quality of the produce we received was not good. Maybe it was our location and where they shipped from. (I think so, because I know people in other states who never have a produce issue) Also, if anyone in your family generally likes seconds of a meal - well, there isn't enough for that. My husband thought the portions (especially the proteins) were small; we also supplemented the box ingredients with produce we bought. Good luck! I'd be interested to read reviews on Blue Apron.

I have not tried either of these services, but I have seen a YouTube review by The Deal Guy (Matt Granite). After viewing his review, I'd pick Blue Apron. I don't know if it's ok to post the link to the YouTube video, but you can easily find it by searching for The Deal Guy Hello Fresh vs Blue Apron.

My adult son switched from Blue Apron to Plated. He said the food choices from Plated are much better and you can add more meals to your order. He has a very busy schedule between his job and the gym so these meals provide him with very nutritious meals without a lot of work.

@excpa I've tried both and prefer Hello Fresh over Blue Apron.
I did Blue Apron first. Hello Fresh seemed fresher, lighter. And I liked their instructions better.

I have never tried either of them but a retired couple who volulnteers at the food bank with me tried Blue Apron for a couple of months. They said there was too much cat fish? I thought you could pick your meals?

I've used both hello fresh and blue apron.
The quality of the food with blue apron is very good. Produce is fresh and lasts a long time, as does the protein. When opening the box it smelled like I was in a garden. Portion size good but not huge. I found the food prep difficult and I know how to cook. It was time consuming. The recipes were too complicated for me for everyday cooking. I just don't want to spend that much time at the end of a workday preparing dinner. Everything was supplied that was needed in each recipe. I was amazed at how well the individual ingredients were prepared and packaged.
Hello fresh took less time to prepare and the recipes were simpler to do. Dinner was done easier and quicker. Portion size might be a tad smaller. They assume you have basic items required...butter, olive oil, salt, pepper. (Blue apron provides everything recipe requires.). The produce was not as fresh, but the protein was good quality.
All this said, I prefer to eat less protein than these services alotted. There was not much choice for vegetarian meals if you are on the meat plan. And the vegetarian plan offered no meat, and no way to combine plans. I would have had to manage two plans. Too much work. Since DH eats too and prefers meat, this created another issue for me.
You can skip weeks and also choose between various meals each week. Unsubscribing was easy for both plans, and neither hassled me in any way, no flood of emails asking why I stopped or asking me to restart. I feel like I can restart either any time I want.

I have often thought of trying one of these, but haven't yet. Interested to see the remarks each of you made about the food and instructions.
One thing that prevents me from trying is that no one seems to do meals for one. I eat very small amounts, so a meal for two would pbobably last me through three or four days (not susre all things keep that long). If anyone knows a service that is for just one, pleae post that for people like me. When you're a one person household having meals brought in would be a wonderful treat. It's hard to do recipes for one.

@Perkup.....I don't remember if either had the option to do meals for one. DH is doing nutrisystem, so I cooked both Hello fresh dinners and the one not eaten was an ok leftover, I think because the food is so fresh. I did not want to cook each portion separately, although I think it's possible to do. You may want to check with them directly about meals for one. HTH

Has anyone heard of "Peach Dish"? I heard they have very good meals and good size portions too. They are based in Atlanta, I think (thus the peach). Just wondering if anyone tried them.
