Oh, I see what you mean now. No, I wouldn't need that. I can get up and down on a chair (unless it's a really soft, sunken type of sofa . . . I could get down, but someone would have to help me up, LOL). I don't sit on (in) that type of furniture. I need a lot of bottom and back support and it has to be high. In fact, my daughters bought me a toilet seat on aluminum legs that goes over top of the regular toilet which makes it at least six inches higher, after my back surgery two years ago. I have a hard time using a regular toilet seat because most of them are too low. (I hope that is not TMI.)

LOL...not TMI for me. I had the raised toilet seat with the arms, too, while recuperating from my knee replacements.

Re: Any landlords out there?

Wow, this would be a very good idea for the 2 of you to share a place. And after what you went through with the "tool belt" neighbor, that would certainly give you peace of mind in not living next to her.

You 2 would be good for each other and have one another's company plus the sharing of expenses.

Please keep us updated and I so hope you are both able to find a one story place for the both of you.

Re: Any landlords out there?

If Medicare pays for electric wheelchairs, lift chairs, walkers, why wouldn't they pay for a stair lift? A neighbor had one, has since moved or I'd ask her daughter, when she moved they sold it back to the company that installed it.

Thanks, HisElk, I hope so too!{#emotions_dlg.wub} I don't like the fact that I'm living next door to a possible nut case. But except for a little bit one day, it has stopped. They must have come down on her pretty hard.

I will definitely look into that once we find a place. Absolutely.

Well, they needed to let her know that under no circumstances, she can continue the noise she was making. I'm just really hoping both of you can find the right place and in the near future.

Re: Any landlords out there?

I don't know if Medicare would pay for the stair lift.

My mother-in-law had to have one installed and she paid for it herself. It was about 2 years ago and hers was around $3,000.

She has all the documentation, handicapped placard for the car and Access-A-Ride for when parking at certain doctors offices is near impossible even with the placard. She doesn't drive, never has. My father-in-law does all the driving.

Ahh, CardinalGirl, that's music to my ears! Thank you so much. I hope we can find landlords like you. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

We have about 20 rentals. Most are apartments, but we do own 4 houses. I would also allow it.

In the past we let one couple have a wheelchair ramp built out front. Of course we had to have the ok from the city.
