I had a garage sale Oct. 2009, and did well. Have T O N S of home decor stuff (think hoarder-in-training here), and made $400 profit after paying for my newspaper ad and renting a dozen 8' tables for 3 days. About 90% or more of the items were fall/Halloween and Christmas home decor items. The rest was year-round items, candles, etc.
Thing is, I have that much or MORE I'm still wanting to sell.
No junk, all stuff I'm still using for holidays, etc. but I'm drowning in STUFF!!!
As you gals know, it's a lot of work to do a big sale, tagging, etc., but I personally HATE to go to a sale where nothing much is marked, and the owner says Make me an offer. GRR. I hate that and just leave.
So, do I just keep hanging on to the stuff and do another sale this coming fall? I honestly think things like this don't sell for anything but pennies - if at all - during the summer. And since none of my stuff is junk or heavily used, I feel it's worth more than a penny or two.
Or do I just close my eyes and haul it all off to Goodwill and my local thrift shop that supports our homeless shelter?
TIA.
