It has been so humid and hot here recently that just a few minutes outside drains me of my energy. The weatherman gives the temperature outside and then the “feels like” temp....that is the number that is dangerous because it is the one your body reacts to. Two days ago I had to go to Home Depot and pick up some birdseed....of course they have it outside behind their garden dept so there I was...even in cool clothing and a visor....and could barely make it back to the car before being worn out. The “feels like” temp was 112. I had a list of other places I needed to go but went straight home instead. Getting old isn’t fun in the heat!

I was just telling my sister-in-law this and those were the exact words I used - - "how this heat just drains/zaps me" and I end up staying in and know I've gained weight this summer.  She and I usually meet about every 6 weeks for a late lunch/early dinner and we haven't done so in a while bc of the heat.

I used to walk no matter what the weather was (hot or cold) but finding it extremely difficult to do so this year for some reason.

I posted about my headaches recently and now I am not sure what is going on with chest pressure that is not pain.  I was given an EKG along with some type of bloodwork to check out my heart and it was OK.  Not sure if its anxiety or indegestion ( i am taking previcid for that and have for years).  The headaches are minor compared to this.  Trying not to worry but I am on vacation and to say the least this is ruining it.

Tell me your stories about this if you have any experience.  I am going to buy some antacids to see if that helps.  It is not pain but if its anxiety how do I not be anxious every time wondering if its gonna be pain?

Thanks again.

Anxiety can hit anyone, anytime.  It may have to do with depression or it could be on its own.

Anxiety (and depression) is chemical imbalance that occurs in the brain.  It's not a make-believe condition. After a trauma many years ago, I saw my doctor and he helped me with medication. Then I saw a therapist for a while.  Both helped a lot and anxiety was managed for many years.  Things flared up again after Mom died.  I went to a therapist who used a fairly new treatment - EMDR.  It saved my life!  I have tools that help me when i feel anxiety coming on and they can keep it at bay.  I still take my anxiety/depression medication and probably will the rest of my life.  But I don't care.  I can now live like a normal, happy human being.

Thanks for thinking of me. I had a stress test Tuesday and have not heard back from the dr.  yet so i think that is good news.

I called my gastro dr and am scheduled for a endoscopy on Tuesday next week.  I have GERD and Barretts Esophagus ( I had forgotten that diagnosis, did know about the GERD). The person I talked to on the phone said Anxiety could bring on gastrointestinal  issues.  I really feel that is what is going on now that I have had it for so long that i can identify the symptoms as similar to heartburn/ acid relflux without the burning sensations.

I think I will need anxitey meds in the future.  Not happy about it but I certainly cant keep living like this.

Thanks again.

The more you keep stressing over this, the muscle spasms become worse and tighter which causes pain. stomach aches also.

Thank you.  I'm not trying to stress over it.  I get up in the morning and my body is already all revved up like an adrenaline rush. It is not in my mind at all but it seems to be in my body.  Well then of course its hard to not think when you feel that way but believe me I try to put my mind elsewhere and I go on with my day like normal in spite of the feelings. So ignoring it is not helping either.  That is why I think I may need a drug in the future but for now I am hoping it will go away on its own.

I am trying to calm myself down but wake up with a adrenaline rush feeling nearly every morning.

I am taking previcid twice a day and can add Zantac if necessary per my Dr.  This is not eliminating the feeling I get all day long.  It is worse at night and I think that is because I stop and relax at night and then I pay more attention to it than when I am busy.

I am able to completly feel better once I go to bed at night.  This is making me think its anxiety since acid reflux is usually worse when you lay down.  That could explain why the meds are not taking care of it.

Either way I am going to have the endoscopy on Tuesday and I hope to get some answers.  Next step will be my reg.dr to see about anxiety meds.

I did get some LTheanine and some chamomile tea.  I am trying anything (natural) I can to get some relief.

Thanks for being there.  It helps to talk about it and get your thoughts.

The question is whether the symptoms suggest anxiety itself or are due to a physical problem. Your doctor may well be correct in your case, so the following is a cautionary tale for other women:

Often, women are still told by doctors that their problem is anxiety when the anxiety is simply due to worry created by very real physical problems. I know because I lived it for 15 years, growing increasingly anxious because of an illness that one doctor after another failed to recognize. Thanks to medication, I am fine now and have been for decades. The proof that the anxiety diagnosis given to me by one specialist after another was wrong is that the physical symptoms and resulting anxiety attacks vanished when I was finally diagnosed and given the proper medication. My doctor agrees that had I been a man, my symptoms and I probably would have been taken more seriously and I would have been diagnosed far sooner.

Everything's going to be okay. Just get through one day at a time. Endoscopy Tuesday & then regular doctor after that. I'm all for trying to do things the natural way, but when anxiety starts consuming you, which I think it is in your case, it's time to talk to your doctor about getting some relief.👍

What was your diagnosis? If you don't want to share, I completely understand.
