Another new light bulb not working!!!

am i the only one that has trouble with light bulbs not working? i bought a new one..a GE Reveal 3way bulb yesterday. The first and third area do not work. It only lights up on the 2nd!!!

this has happened to me so many times with brand new light bulbs, I just dont know why!! It must be in the manufacturing process! Grrrr
