  • I have 2 facebook accounts..one with my name and another with a faux name.  The faux account was for me to sell things on Marketplace, which was working out quite well until FACEBOOK decided to not allow 2nd accounts to sell on marketplace, so all the photos, and descriptions are gone.
  •
  • I tried to get rid of the faux account..eliminate all traces including my faux name, profile photo, etc. but when I click on my real profile the faux name still shows up.
  •
  •  I have read several articles about deleting an account, not deactivating but totally eliminating all traces...I cannot not seem to do that.  My faux name continues to show up under my actual profile.

Can anyone confirm that it is possible to actually eliminate the 2nd name or will it always show up even to it has been eliminated?

Re: Another facebook question

@Mom2Dogs   It is harder than heck to delete an account , let alone permanently!!  You do have to jump through hoops. I had to go online and get instructions from reputable site, and it worked. My problem is that I wasn't going far enough. It must me half dozen steps to do it or more

@shoekitty  It is ridiculous that it is so difficult to delete.  If you did completely delete I assume your profile photo is also gone?

@Mom2Dogs

Delete your Facebook account through Accounts Center

To permanently delete your account:
  • Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
  • Select Settings & privacy, then click Settings.
  • Click Accounts Center at the top left of your screen.
  • Click Personal details, under Account Settings.
  • Click Account ownership and control.
  • Click Deactivation or deletion.
  • Choose the account or profile you want to delete.
  • Select Delete account.
  • Click Continue then follow the instructions to confirm.

Re: Another facebook question

@Mom2Dogs  I firmly believe they do this on purpose. I am not alone, everyone says this. I even had to get help. So , who do I ask for help?  My adult grands of course!!  They had better luck, and with their help I completely, permanently deleted my acct.  but even at that, they won't permanently delete it for 30 days!!   Yes I defriended myself years ago. But for some reason, a few months ago I clicked a Facebook link a business, and I got in. Come to find when I had deleted my acct years ago, it was temporary, "in case I wanted to come back".  lol. All is well now. When you permanently delete you need to check you understand you loose all photos, names, etc. okay by me. I don't care for Facebook at all, just feel a tiny bit safer without it. I talk to my kids everyday anyway, and we text and send photos. I didn't need a Facebook.

@Mom2Dogs

Well, there's the IRL number of your computer AND all the cookies they attach.

The only thing I can think of is if you have a new separate device that is used only for that account.  A burner phone?

Then, there's the issues of matching bank accounts and your addresses?   Might you need a new checking account and a PO box to have a different address?

If you COULD set up a whole new device and identity for the new account, just let the other account go dormant.

Only you know if the money you've been making is worth the trouble to become a new person with a new account.

I don't think you can permanently eliminate an account, even if you've deleted everything on your end.

What are your thoughts?

My employer insisted we all join Facebook, so we could "all become friends".   It was a command, not a suggestion.    That VERY OLD pic is still there.

I still have the account...because I have relatives who send those "instant messages" (or whatever they call them).    I have NO IDEA why they can't use email...

The reason is that it's against rule to have 2 different accounts.  So it's complicated so people don't end up deleting their only account trying to change some settings.   I'm surprised they didn't realize you had 2 accounts.
The right way to do what you tried to do was to have 1 account with 2 profiles.  One could have just been for marketplace.  That's allowed and would have been easy to delete.
