I agree...but....he certainly is keeping his name in the news. He will never go away unless the media leaves him alone. And now, he is going to be on Dancing, so until he gets cut from that show, he'll still be a front page item!!! And I agree with the posters...his interview on GMA was pathetic!! I really wonder if there is something wrong with his thinking process...he couldn't even complete a sentence!!!

You know sometimes L A is not a safe place to be in and since he loves to party maybe he should make sure he uses the restroom before he leaves a club because we wouldn't want him to be "robbed" again.

I was dumbfounded watching this interview. I'm sure he had to have been prepped but it was like he had no idea what they were going to ask him. He couldn't come up with answers to most questions without a lot of thinking and then they were senseless answers. I'm not sure why he even showed up for this. He really came across as a stupid guy. At the end, he was struggling so much to find the words, Amy Robeck finished a sentence for him and they moved on. What a waste of time.
Ryan did say the stories about them damaging a bathroom are untrue. They never were able to get into the bathroom because it was locked. He did tear up/rip the sign or poster, whatever they are calling it. But he said they did not damage a bathroom.
Lochte also said a gun was never held to his head. He said he lied about that part and made a big mistake.
I think this story has run its course. It is so past time to move on from this already.
@Lipstickdiva, they most certainly DID kick in a bathroom door. IT'S ON THE VIDEO that has surfaced. So he sat on t.v. and lied about that too. Maybe he's just a pathological liar and can't help himself. I've seen this video with my own eyes. It's all over the internet.

He is not beyond redemption and hopefully he will grow up some day.... but I would like to see him do some "good" first -- give free swimming lessons to underprivileged children in his community, volunteer somewhere and let your PR person do the rest. His actions right now and for the immediate future need to speak louder than his apology..... and his action of signing a multi-million dollar contract plus getting $$ for DWTS is not exactly redeeming oneself.
While I agree with parts of your post, I think those involved in Rio are skating free. I feel the city of Rio has blame in this seemingly endless story. Heard yesterday a gun was pointed at Ryan and those with him.

Ryan said today on GMA there was no gun pulled on him and pointed to his head. He made that up.
@Lipstickdiva It's hard to believe anything Ryan Lochte says. I'm sick to death of his childish man-boy behavior.

YES! This has been driving me crazy. He is a 32-year-old man, not a child, not a frat boy. He should be held accountable. Boys will be boys is never an acceptable excuse for poor behavior like this, but even less so when you are a 32-year-old man.
I don't think anyone is apologizing for him. He IS being held accountable and he DID set it all in motion. However, I think Brazil has a few things to answer for too. According to a Brazilian judge, there was culpability on their end too.
@RainCityWoman, yes some people have been apologizing for him. Many of them are on these forums. I guess that's why indoor kitty mentioned it.

Oh please. On the scale of atrocities, his misdeeds don't even show up on the radar. He IS being punished, though I suppose you don't think enough. Unforgiveable? There are many things done in this world that are unforgiveable, but his misdeeds are not worth looking at a second time. Sure, he acted like a jerk. So did those security guards and the Brazilian police who held the one boy hostage and extorted $10,000 from him.

His Olympic medals should be taken away from him for his "so called mistakes."
Yes, I've made "mistakes" but NONE of his magnitude. Not even close!
Are you under the impression that medals are given to winning athletes with the contingency that they never, ever do anything wrong for the rest of their lives? If so, do you have ANY idea how many Olympic medals would have to be repossessed?
I think this is an apples and oranges situation .... yes, he screwed up big time, but that doesn't negate his honest accomplishments in the Olympic games. You can't act like that never happened!
I agree. He earned those medals during the competition. They have nothing to do with what happens outside the arena. Let him be punished or fined for the incident itself. The medals are HIS. And he didn't cheat to get them.

Wow. He even lied about kicking the door in - after everybody has seen the video? Ballzy!
I have to concur that he did earn the medal/s (not sure how many) so I guess they shouldn't be up for grabs, but there SHOULD be some kind of monetary punishment.
We can be pretty certain that he's not going to go back to Brasil and be arrested, so he just needs to pay punitive and physical damages.

I agree with you @chickenbutt. His other team members paid the restitution of $3,088. This is equivalent to $10,000 US dollars.
