Another Light Bulb question

Saw other posts regarding the new annoying lightbulbs which I detest as well.

What bulbs are safe to use in enclosed fixtures? Hear the spiral ones overheat if you use that type in covered light fixtures and I've run out of my beloved incandescent bulbs.
