@SahmIam -- It's not TRUE that ANYONEAND THEIR BROTHER/MOTHER/SISTER/AUNTIE/ETC can get a gun in Florida just by walking in and asking for it. Gun stores run a background check on you and you can't pick up the gun until a few days after you buy it. Please check your facts and stop spreading incorrect information. Thank you.

Hmm, and the videos and movies that we are bombarded with (pun intended) don't have an affect on creating a culture of violence? Ok then.
The game they were playing is a football game.
No illegal violence.
Trying to tie video/movies to illegal activities is crazy.
Video games are played everywhere in the world. Why is it US having this problem? It's the thing that so many are trying to ignore/deny- the easy availability of any kind of gun to anyone who wants one.

@goldensrbest -- don't forget baseball bats, hammers, rat poison, and molatov cocktails.

Huh??? People who kill others, for any reason other than self-defense, don't have a mental issue?
By that logic, we should ban all knives, spears, cars, airplanes, etc.
That's another meme that never gets us anywhere, nor does sarcasm. This is serious, and those of us who have lost loved ones to gun violence feel sort of a sickening gut punch when it seems like the topic is treated lightly. Knives, cars, etc., have uses other than to injure, kill, maim, and also there is insurance required for some of them. Also, mental illness can be a component but sometimes with so many guns at the ready it happens as a split-second bad decision and not the result of mental illness.
As a side bar, there's a good documentary, "The Armor of Light," which provides some helpful insight into how we got ourselves into this heap of firearm mess.

@LolaMontez wrote:Thank you. The places with the strongest gun control laws have the worst gun control crimes. I would rather be in a store with experienced conceal carry NRA member gun owners when the lunatic fringe barges in to shoot up innocent people.
Does this mean you are dismissing those that open carry and/or are not NRA members? Are they incompetent or not to be trusted because they don't meet your criteria?

That kind of talk is just stupid, guns are fatal more often ,just your comment is crazy.

So you would feel safer if good guys were not allowed to have and carry guns, but bad guys, who have guns and will break the law, do have guns?
The “good guys” DO have guns.
They are called police...aka Law Enforcement.
The gun ‘toters’ have no idea what they would do if something
happened. Though they probably think it looks cool to
have a gun on the hip. 🙄
Yes, I don't think we should be encouraging vigilante action.
Well, the police can not be everywhere all the time. People who carry guns have had some training and I would still rather have a civilian with a gun in the store with me, than not. I do not think most have a gun just to look "cool."
Unless they have the proper training, I don't think they should be out there "protecting" the public.
As far as I know, gun owners do not need rigorous training in emergency situations.

@Marp No, that's not what it means. I just threw the NRA in there to pacify the crazies who think all guns should be banned. Sigh. . .

You can purchase guns from non-licensed gun vendors with no background check. Also the waiting period does not apply to everyone.
