I've had several friends on Facebook recently that I've "unfollowed" due to their constantly posting their political views.  I don't mind people with different political views than mine, but daily rantings get to be a bit much.  You can unfollow them but remain friends, and they'll never know you've done it.

I chuckled at this because I have come close to unfriending some friends due to what they share, but it wasn't political! It was over-grandchildren-ing! Too many photos!

I have a few (fortunately only a few) friends and family who never use their FB page to post anything about themselves, what they're doing, etc. but ONLY EVER use it to wax political or pass on every urban legend they've ever seen. They might sock 25 posts apiece, every day, into my FB feed. I have soooo not got time for that. I just opt not to see their posts. I can always visit their page if I want to see if they've posted anything of import.

Over-sharing of any kind can be a PIT * - something to keep in mind. I try hard to keep a lid on my sharing.

I will say something like "We are going to have to agree to disagree on political ideals" if that doesn't work - I have been known to unfriend people who can't stop pounding the political button until after the election.

I agree with most other posters--don't reply to her and just choose 'hide post'.  Then FB will ask why you are hiding the post and you can choose to show less of those posts.

And remember what Neil de Grasse Tyson says, "The good thing about science is that it is true whether you believe in it or not".

That's funny that you should mention the MZ thing!  I had several friends post about it  -  all excited that they might be chosen!  I then posted a link or two - not to anyone in particular - just on my home page - showing the claim was bogus.  

I got no responses personally....but lo & behold a week or so later a cousin then posts that said in essence, "wait  -  it IS true, and HERE is the link!"  Problem was, the link was another of the bogus ones.

I just let it drop....LOL

I found that the ones who post things that from false 'news' pages...also post the scam ones (Bill Gates giving away money, Disney giving away all expense trip for 4 and the latest that Mark Zuckerberg was giving away stock in the company). I block their posts from my Timeline or if thats all they do is share posts like that....UNFRIEND

I have some relatives and friends like that too.  If the political posting gets too bizarre or offensive to me, I simply "unfollow" them.  They are never notified of this and I feel it is kinder to family to just not be subjected to nonsense instead of blocking or unfriending them.

Yeah, but sometimes it's family, so it's Unfollow rather than Unfriend. Unfriending family who are not mean or evil but who are just dumb about that stuff and who are otherwise good peeps would be uncool ;-)

Generally I ignore such on facebook as it is a public forum.  If it is a genuine mistake, or lack of information that's one thing, someone who does it repeatedly is not looking for clarification.  As said, if it gets too heavy use unfollow.

I have had in the past a few family members who wanted to 'convert me to their side' who bombarded me with inflammatory, untruthful messages to my personal email.

To those I finally responded by requesting that they no longer send me anything political, religious, or about their views on economics.  We maintain convos. about family news.
