I also voted Absentee. I did it last week.

I'm obviously alone in this thinking but I disagree with early voting. Do I have a good reason? No. Absentee I'm ok with but just because is not a good enough reason. Let's move the holidays around too to fit your schedule. Ridiculous. I'm open to hear from those of you that have early voted and why... is it because of the long lines or something else.

We voted early Monday morning last week. There is nothing like having the right to vote.
We are not looking to demean, insult, or trample on any candidate. We are voting for those we feel are the best; what will be will be.

@Junebug54 Unfortunately, my state does not have early voting but does have absentee voting.
In our state one must vote on election day (Tuesday). Most people work on Tuesdays and at least four other days of the week and depending on their hours, and family responsibilities, it may make it very difficult to hit the voting machine on that day, especially if turnout is heavy.
In other cases, weather affects voter turnout. If they have a choice of choosing an alternate day, turnout may be better. November weather in the northeast, northcentral and northwest can sometimes be fickle...snow, sleet, etc. Another hindrance.
That's only a few off the top of my head.

I used to have a job that required me to be there from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The polls here open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
I see nothing "ridiculous" about accomodating citizens that are unable to be at the polls at the limited time available and can't understand why anyone would have a problem with that.

I'll answer your question with a question. Why not have early voting? Times have changed. We are no longer a 9 to 5 society where daddy comes home from work and mommy is waiting with dinner.
Work schedules are all over the clock. Lots of single parents struggling to find daycare just to get to work. Polling places are no longer primarily within walking distance.
The goal is to make it EASIER for everyone to vote. Not harder.
I simply don't understand why you would find this "ridiculous"

I remind everyone I talk to, and make sure college kids and non-drivers have absentee ballots! It’s not a day-off holiday, so bosses should help allow workers to vote!!

College students may choose in which state they vote: their original residence or the state they matriculate in. But they must make a choice between the two. Lately there have been attempts to cutail this in certain areas, but so far the courts have sided with the students.
Non drivers do not need absentee ballots to vote. If they can get to the polls, and they are registereed, they can vote.

Hi Junebug, to answer your question, we vote absentee at the Courthouse as it is very handicap accessible. My husband is an above the knee amputee and uses a walker. Our polling place is - believe it or not - a metal building down a long, rough, gravel walkway behind a little rural house in the woods. Seriously. No way could he maneuver that. I barely can

🇺🇸 We vote Tuesday. The church is located in our neighborhood so it’s usually easy in, easy out. 🇺🇸
