The biggest reason people leave is simply because they're bored, something else grabbed their attention, they get busy...a million reasons really. I posted a lot on one board for a couple of years and the best posters left. One started a business, and the owners of the board considered her competition. Another lost her immense wealth in 2008 and disappeared so the rest wouldn't find out. Yet another had a baby and she disappeared during the pregnancy. You never know.On 3/5/2015 indiarose said:On 3/4/2015 sidsmom said:On 3/4/2015 blahblahvampemerblah said:On 3/4/2015 sidsmom said:So you're having someone censored via a third party because you disagree with them? I enjoy a good conversation/debate on these boards from time to time, but emotion causes the tone to get ugly & unwarranted.
Just in this micro-mini world here @ the Q Community, I'm STUNNED some of these posters are so grotesquely mean. Just recently, an OP called some posters "illiterate" & "bullheaded". =:0 Another popular poster uses ugly emotion but they wrap it around "$5 words"...not quite so obvious, but just as mean.
It's a classic sign of insecurity....and not controlling emotion (like examples above) is definitely a weak link in their mindset.
Instead of "Ignoring" someone, I report posts as Inappropriate. Most times posts are removed soon after I report, so QVC Moderators should be applauded for their work to control the few.
No. If you read the QVC Community Guidelines, it clearly states "no personal attacks". And QVC moderators apparently agree with me when said thread w/ personal attack is shut down. (Referencing the most current "HH" thread).
So why do you feel you have "right" and "duty" to report posts as inappropriate? Have you seen a professional to help you deal with your god-like self image?
I agree with Sid. It is against the boards rules, and it just sets a fractious atmosphere . A few years ago the boards were never like they are now, and they were fun. There were way more posters too. Loads of them. Now the boards have dwindled to maybe 50 to 125 at a time. To me being mean is not fun! But some people make sport of it.

It's a personal pet peeve of mine from my experiences on another board where this group of women went running around censoring people in private and in public. For the most part, I'm a big believer in the ignore feature, but I would report someone for using vile language, bigotry and so on.On 3/4/2015 blahblahvampemerblah said:On 3/4/2015 sidsmom said:So you're having someone censored via a third party because you disagree with them? I agree mostly. I think priggishness is just as mean, even if you think you are just "helping the moderators" to do their job. And usually that person has no idea they're a prig.Sometimes comments have been made here are that are just completely cruel and unacceptable. Then my sympathies tend to make we want to help the victim, whether they ask or not. Just can't stand the excoriating personal attacks. They're so not necessary to get your point across.

Connected by technology in a way we never have been in all of history, it seems larger than we could ever appreciate before this time. Some curb these tendencies better than others. Many don't feel the need to when their is no name so no shame. That tells much about the nature of our species.
I agree. People are born mean, and have to learn how to be nice. I don't think it's the other way around.

Crisso this is the Dalai Lama thread you looked for.

I agree, and I might add "...with no consequences and complete anonymity"

Well we might get some consequences from the Webbie but that's about the only thing. Yes I think being anonymous changes people and no for the good.

"Angry people of the Internet nowadays, Why?"
Evidently it comes naturally to some of them.

I'm not saying it's all bad, but more often than not and that's not why I'm there. I stopped short of completely unfriending, but that's the next step.
Reese I think it's a smart move you took. All the negative activity can't be healthy for us.
There's a thread about using "Ignore" here for certain posters and I've never used it before but the thread got me thinking it might be a good thing to do.
I've rarely used Ignore on anyone in all the years I've been here, but I'm considering it now. I try hard to ignore posts by a handful of people, but the problem is the "newbies" who obviously aren't.

LOL! I do that all the time, too! It helps!
