Yes, no, I mean.  The younger generation use ( I mean) a lot in the beginning of a sentence.

Re: And speaking of over used words and phrases

When my husband says "to make a long story short" I know it's going to be a long story. He repeats this phrase several times during his story. Drives me nuts. Just get to the point.

Re: And speaking of over used words and phrases

I have been waiting for this topic!

It is happening with almost every host and I am so sick of it.

This can go with anything,RIGHT?

You could wear this with any shoe,RIGHT?

It is on easy pay,RIGHT?

This item is just the best, RIGHT?

Every word, sentence, description ends with Right?

Has anybody noticed this irritating trend?

Thanks for letting me vent!!!              bamasec

Every talking head on cable news starts their sentence with "Look" very annoying. My son's girlfriend does the TV news on a station where they live.  She says they have consultants constantly coming in giving advice and criticisms. I guess the word look must be a MUST.

Totally agree but also they are now starting their sentences with "So."  The anchors ask the guest panelists a ? and they start their answers with "So, this... " or "So, that"...  Another one I see constantly on our local news.  So many of the reporters (they are all young--in their 20's I guess) start their on-the-scene reports with "Yeah."  Now come on...how asinine is that.  Some of them sound like teenagers, professionalism out the door.

@bamasec~~~While the hosts are guilty of this at times, there is a certain vendor that takes it to another plane. I almost said "a new level," but that's ANOTHER one over done!

This vendor is super successful and doesn't need to do this, but it's as though one is seeking constant reassurance and affirmation.

I know someone that says that too, LOL!

It finally got to the point where every time they said "to make a long story short", I would interject with, "too late!"

Soon, they realized how often they were saying it.

So funny!   I know someone, too, who says that quite often.  When he says "to make a long story short" then I say to him, "then do it already!"   Of course now alot of times he just ignores me and keeps going on, and on and on......
