I felt the same about the bar but it was so different back then and not like the bars of today or I am assuming from the stories I hear. Bands played live and we loved to dance. Lots of fun and just the places people went.

He was a senior and I was a sophomore in high school---he approached me in the hall during a break between mid-term exams. We talked for a few minutes, and he invited me to his sister's sweet 16 party that weekend (turns out I knew his sister, but had never met him before). I actually noticed him in the halls at school occasionally, thought he had beautiful eyes (I still do!).
Anyway, he called me that night, we talked for hours. We dated for a few months, then broke up when he went off to college--I think he just wanted to "see what was out there". When he came back after the first semester, we got back together. We were married 4 years later (6 months after he graduated from college)...and will celebrate our 48th anniversary in November.
Side note: he has 4 siblings, I have 2--and we are the only ones who have not been divorced. We always say it's because we found each other young, dated for years, and probably worked through a lot of stuff before we got married!

My DH was the UPS driver for my office. Whenever he came up to the office he would ask me out but I had recently gone through a divorce so I had no interest in dating. One day my partner and I had ordered a new copying machine from Staples because our old one had died. We desperately needed the copier. It was supposed to be delivered the next day. This was when you could not track packages online. I had called UPS and was told the package would be delivered by 8:00PM. I waited in the office until 7:00 but had to leave. My partner’s nephew stayed to wait. When I arrived at the office the following morning the copier still had not been delivered. When I called UPS I was told delivery had been attempted just after 5:00PM but the business was closed. Obviously that was not the case as I was there myself until 7:00. When the driver showed up with the copier I asked what happened. He said since it was after 5:00 he thought the office would have been closed so he didn’t even attempt to make the delivery. I blasted him!! I mean I really tore him to shreds. A few days later I was in a store and saw a man walking towards me. My first thought was ….. he is so good looking!! Then I realized he was our UPS driver. I stopped him to chat. After that when he asked me out (I'm surprised he did since I had really yelled at him over the copier) I agreed. We will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary this year.

In the late 60's..DH just got out of the Army..
I was in a crowded coffee shop the waitress knew him from before the Army...
She said to him"there is a girl over there I want you to meet"..
The rest is history...We are married 52 years.

@speedy girl , we used to go out dancing at bars/clubs all the time. Late '70s. So fun. One place was basicaly all disco. Great memories. I met a couple of really nice boyfriends that way. Whole different world than today.

We met in the coffee shop in his office building. I worked in the building next door. It was a long oval counter and a lot of people knew and worked together. One day I walked in and he was sitting across the counter, Within a week or so he worked his way around the counter and finally sat next to me. He asked me out and that started a few years of on again off again dating. He was getting very serious but he traveled a lot and I wasn't ready to settle down. I wanted to travel and meet new people. We didn't see much of each other for a while and one day, 9 years later, we ran into each other. At the time I was not seeing anyone and he asked me to dinner. We started dating again---6 months later we were engaged and married a month after that. We were married 24 years before he passed away.

We met when I was iin 7th grade and he was a 9th grader. Saw each other on group dates, but didn't start dating until I was 17 and he was 19. Married a year later and now 51 years have passed. I still get butterflies when he's been gone and I hear the garage door open announcing he's home. Life is wonderful

@Somertime And unlike most places where couples meet, Bloomingdales takes returns. 😁

I was playing wing-woman for a guy friend at the neighborhood hang. My future Hub thought I was his blind date. I was not. Later that evening, he followed me outside and asked for my number. I said no but my guy friend gave it to him. Hub cooked me dinner a few days later. He's a musician and had a hit back in the late 80s on MTV. He played the video for me (which I remembered) and made fun of himself for dancing around like a fool. Unfortunately, I was charmed.
We only lasted four years (married for three), but boy, was he fun!
We still live in the same city and he pings me sometimes.

@Pearlee That made me laugh! I had a lifetime guarantee, not going to void my warranty!!!!
Seriously, he was one of the top stylists at Bloomies, my first time getting a haircut there, first and only time he had an opening for a walk in!
