Ancestry software question

Does anyone have a recommendation for software that one can download their Ancestry.com family tree to? I'm going to have to stop my Ancestry.com subscription and want to download my work so far so I don't lose it. Also, can you re-subscribe to Ancestry.com in the future and pick up where you left off? Thanks for any other suggestions or recommendations you'd like to offer. I just got started, but don't have the time to devote to it right now and that monthly fee rolls around too quickly.
