Re: An unusual question I'm asking for deets

Lovestoteach, brush up on Developmental Psychology: you are doing what pretty much all of us middle agers do.  We assess our lives, where we have been, where are we now, and where are we going.  Who are we really? Our identities were wrapped in careers and family, but we are reaching the realization that we won't be here forever.

Did we live out our dreams? What could we have done differently.....what would we like to do? What gives our life meaning?

I will be honest here: I glossed over many of the above issues, almost died in 2015, and then was left asking all of those questions-and feeling "less than" , insignificant-a waste of protoplasm. I sought help, and I am glad I did.  There is nothing ever easy about developmental issues at any stage of life, but don't make the mistake of judging your life by anybody else's yardstick.  We tend to do that on many different levels and it is self defeating.

Ever since my therapist helped me figure that out-my life is better-according to....me.

Cyber hugs, and continue to get better,

Summers during my grade school years: nothing to do but play outdoors in the warm sun all day...and at the lake on the weekends...not a care in the world.

Sally, what beautiful memories! Everything you mentioned plus impromptu games of "kick the can", kickball....BlackBerry picking...walking around-in the dark in the neighborhood with friends, and then going to somebody's house to make cookies or pizza....going canoeing....eating ice cold watermelon outside-or ice cream....
