An Ode to Snow : Celestial Diamonds
I was lying awake and feeling quite bored.
But, insomnia sometimes has its rewards.
I looked out the window to see what's around,
A blanket of snow had covered the ground.
Against the dark sky, was a crystalline glow,
Another small flurry, sparkling crystals of snow.
I watched from inside, staying toasty and warm,
As in stillness and quietness, this mid-winter storm
transformed the front yard to a magical place.
The vines appeared to be covered in lace.
Alabaster sculptures stood guard on the lawn
Where bushes were seen on the previous dawn.
Reflections of moonlight created a glow
Of sugar crystals glimmering on top of the snow.
Tree branches glistened as they reached to the sky,
On rooftops and walkways, the snow piled high.
Pine boughs, encrusted nearly bent to the ground.
All peace and tranquility , no one around.
A spun-sugar fantasy land was before my eyes,
As celestial diamonds fell from the sky.

Thank you very much. I figured that I would get one more winter poem in, before the season ends.

@Enufstuff I love it!❤️. What a fitting poem for so many today. Beautiful and so well written! I can close my eyes a picture the scene perfectly. 😊 Please feel free to share poems with me anytime. I really enjoy reading them. May I take a screenshot of this one? I won't if you'd prefer I not.

@cheriereThank you very much. I don't mind if you take a screen shot. Most of my poetry was published years ago.
The next one I post will probably be the one about the death of winter. I'm not really brave enough to post my love poems - yet.

I love this so much! It gave me chills (in a good snow way![]()
And it gives me a happy snow fix until mother nature decides to give us at least a few flakes!
You are really a wonderful poet @Enufstuff! Thank you for showing us this.
It reminded me of The nIght Before Christmas when it says,
"as dry leaves before the hurricanes fly, as they reach for an obstacle mount to the sky"
(or something like that I think
)
anyway, I loved it!:heart

@Enufstuff You really have a gift! Your writing is beautiful! How much I'd love to be able to paint such spectacular pictures with words. You should NEVER be hesitant to post what you write. It's that good and no wonder that you've been published! Bravo 👏.
Please include me again when you post your poem about the death of winter. Thank you so much for sharing.😊💝💕. (I'd feel bad to take a screenshot since it belongs to you. Forgive me for even asking please.❤️)
