Re: American that joined isis

[ Edited ]

I heard he got double-crossed by the guy that promised to take him to Turkey.  I don't feel sorry for him.

I really have a hard time believing his story.  He claims that after studying religion with them, he realized they weren't good Muslims?  Are you kidding me?  Our politicians have been telling us that for over 10 years.  We all know that the terrorists are practicing an extreme fundamentalist version of the religion and it's not the mainstream Islam; why is it that he couldn't figure that out, when everyone else knows it?

I think his story is hogwash.

I have to laugh at his family, LOL.  While his father was spraying the reporters with the garden hose, they were asking the family if he went to join ISIS.  The brother kept yelling, "NO, NO, NO!!!" and now it comes out that he did, indeed join ISIS.

Why should he be allowed back, is one of my thoughts, he was old enough to know better, he must be  punished by our country.

What do you think should happen to him, legally?

I am not familiar with the specifics of this story, so in general, this is what I feel should be done.

Since he renounced his citizenship, it should be taken away/list him as what he is, a terrorist. Then put him with the remaining terrorists at Guantanamo with those that are best at extracting info from terrorists.

I agree with you, but I believe it will never happen.  I'm sure his family is getting lawyered-up as we speak.  It's not often that we see pure justice in this country these days.  I'm predicting a slap on the wrist, but I hope I'm wrong.

John, you make far too much sense, LOL.  That's why I predict it will never happen.

As the expression goes, plain and simple, lock him up and throw away the key.

@chrystaltree  It's not just "free speech." He's espousing a cause that hates the U.S. and wants to destroy it. Is that OK with you?
