I stayed outside and watched my kids for years and years. Even in our little quiet subdivision. Finally when they hit maybe 12 . . . I let them play basketball or hit baseballs or throw the football in the yard . . . or daughter and friends play with sidewalk chalk on driveway . . . and even then I told them IF anyone even looked at them funny to come running into the house screaming bloody murder and even demonstrated how a couple of times. Sad state of affairs. And for the longest, IF they went on a bike round around the neighborhood, I rode with them.
I cannot imagine how parents survive after a tragedy like this. How could you even face tomorrow. Their funeral. The trial. That poor child. Rest her soul.

Have our local news on right now. St. Louis is really covering this. They are expecting a statement from the Prosecuting Attorney within a 1/2 hour. Will let you all know what is happening then.
This is so disgusting.......

Outlined charges.
1. First degree murder
2. Abduction.....and there was a 3rd one, but they went too fast for me to catch it. (sorry about that)......
Dan Peterson is PA Franklin County.......determination of death penalty not decided yet.
He had a hard time talking about this, and had tears in his eyes, as he has 2 small children himself. Just hoping for a quick trial to settle this case.
Autopsy report was said to be she was shot to death.

Shot?? I did not expect that.
Thanks so much for keeping us updated Showme. I really hope this guy gets what he deserves.

7 p.m. Tuesday: A multi-state amber alert is issued.
8:30 p.m. Tuesday: Investigators in the 1500 block of East Stanford Street, following up on a lead, located the vehicle and suspect in vehicle. A suspect is taken into custody for questioning.
11:30 p.m. Tuesday: 30 springfield officers and investigators do a coordinated search along the 1500 block of East Stanford Street. Evidence is located in connection with the case, police say
Early wednesday morning, Hailey Owens' family tells KMBC's Brenda Washington that her body has been located.
This case is really getting to me

I was all ready for bed and turned the news on......there is more on this case.
Hailey was shot in the back of the head (execution style), and her little body was put in a plastic container and put down in the basement. She had been tied up. He tried to clean up after he shot her.
Thank goodness he didn't molest her.....they reported this.....
They did comment on how emotional the PA was and is taking this pretty hard. Bet he is wishing he didn't have to take on this case.
And once again, there seems to be no motive for him to have done this.
Hats off to the Springfield police for the excellent job they did on this case.

ShowMe, I just went to the web site and there is a bank were if you want you can send in a donation to the family. Will do that in the morning this is horrible. In Pittsburgh they think they have caught the guy who shot to death two sisters from Iowa who were living and working in Pittsburgh. As I am reading they feel it is the next door neighbor of these women. Will never understand what makes someone do something like these things. I am just beside my self trying to understand how the parents of this child will have to cope with the fact that some devil shot their beautiful little girl. I have to make a correction here today after questioning the guy in Pittsburgh for over 12 hours they let him go. So the hunt for who killed the two sisters starts all over again.

I just can not wrap my head around what motivated him to do such a horrible thing

This is so sad. The neighbors saw this happen, as soon as the man pulled Hailey into his truck, one man called 911 and another jumped in his car to try to catch the truck. Because of the traffic, he lost the truck. The man that called 911 had the license number and the color and make of the truck.
This horrible man had worked at a school in Springfield since 1998.
It hasn't been that long that a 12 year-old girl in Golden City was taken and killed.
The news had Hailey's Mother on tonight. She said that "Hailey is in heaven with her wings". She said that her strong faith is helping her through all this heartbreak.
Turn on your porch light tonight for Hailey.
