Re: AmazonSmile will shut down on February 20th

I won't be giving to any of these charities. I give what little extra I have to animal charities and veterans of our Country. Tunnel to Towers.

I was disappointed too. My charity was:

Re: AmazonSmile will shut down on February 20th

I haven't received this email yet from Amazon. Like many here, our charities were all directed towards helping the ones directly connected to animal shelters, with No Kill Policies, and other such charities.

My wife will also be very disappointed when she sees this,it's sad. I recently read where this company's net profit, in the 3rd quarter of 2022, was $2.9 billion.

@KittySoftPaws

That’s a cheap, nasty comment, a stereotype and untrue. Someone doesn’t deserve help unless they are a veteran?

For the record, my DH is a disabled veteran.

@JeanLouiseFinch   I'm sure it's disappointing, but as I look at the numbers, I am not surprised.  I do believe Amazon needs to work on a new charity program and hope they do as son as all the obligations they have already committed to have been paid.

Recently Subaru made a charity donation in my name. The difference from Amazon's program was that I had only 5 charities from which to choose.  I easily chose 3 of the 5 although I was free to send the whole donation ($300.00) to one or to split among 2, 3, or 4. I knew by limiting my choices, the money was supporting agencies I like with enough money to make a small difference. I don't use Amazon enough to bother following their Smile program as it's currantly set up.

@millieshops

I purchased a Subaru at the end of last year and same thing. There was a choice of about six or so charities. I was not aware that you could split the donation so I chose  ASPCA.

@stevieb  I agree.  My Amazon renewal is in three days.  I don't plan to renew.

Oh please, stereotype? And they call it free speech for a reason. Close your eyes to the reality before you but that's not the reality of the current World we live in.

I can't speak to "their stock", but I read this recently. In the 3rd quarter of 2022 the Net Profit for Amazon was $2.9 Billion.

Never been into the Stock Market. I was raised and lived my financial life this way. "A bird in the hand, is worth 2 in a bush".

I do however understand Net versus Gross Profit. If any company has those numbers in 3 months? Doesn't sound to me like they are doing poorly.

That's it!

Re: AmazonSmile will shut down on February 20th

@deepwaterdotter, same here! I have designated several favorite small animal charities for Smile donations over the past few years. I use Amazon a lot, and was kind of disappointed that MY donations never amounted to much, but the overall amount donated by the program is impressive. I, too, will just make more direct donations to those charities. I do hate to see the program end, though. 😧
