Re: Amazon to hire 100,000 workers

I checked both Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods and there are no delivery windows available. Even a week in there is nothing available so it would be great if they hire more workers.

Re: Amazon to hire 100,000 workers

I was outside in the yard today looking and planning to plant some shrubs and flowers shortly.  Seemed like a good thing to do since I am laying low anyway.  Already told myself I will order plants online if I have to.

Anyway, an incredible number of Amazon delivery trucks went by while I was out there.  More than seems usual at least.  But one thing I noticed is that all of the drivers were wearing N95 respirator masks.  Different drivers, but they all had masks on.  Just something interesting I observed today.

And by the way, I hope panic buying and planting of flowers does not become a problem.  I might just get testy if I can't even purchase the flowers I have planned for the landscape!  lol    Forget toilet paper, I want my flowers!

Re: Amazon to hire 100,000 workers

Whole Foods announced that they will pay all team members who work in stores an extra $2 per hour.  Full and part-time.

I'm not all that thrilled with WF being linked with Amazon now but at least the stores are still around, although we haven't been out since last Wed.

@ms traditional   @SilleeMee    I watched a feature on Sixty Minutes last night where the demonstrated a tractor that completely drives itself.  They showed all it's features and it was very impressive.  The only thing it won't do yet is drive in snow or fill itself with gas.  No co-drive needed.  Gets to destination twice as fast as a manned truck.  Wave of the future.

Amazon Fresh is very low in quantity!  I could not  find 2 specific products.  I did find TP, though.  I coulldn't find liquid soap on Fresh, but regular Amazon had it and I ordered (to get  a place in line) Shipment will come in on March 23.

Re: Amazon to hire 100,000 workers

Will they make it known that after this high demand period is over so is their job?

I can't see them keeping all those extra employees once things settle down and are back to normal, whatever that new normal may be.

I have not spotted the masks on the drivers in AZ.  I'll make it a point to look now.  Aren't those extremely uncomfortable?

Re: Amazon to hire 100,000 workers

The driver we had did not have a mask.  She had her own car, too.  I usually see the Prime vans so I it looks like even the vans are in short supply.

We have another delivery coming in a few days so we will see if a mask is being worn.

I leave a few extra dollars for them; they do assess a tip at checkout which you can change to any amount but I like to think our delivery person can at least have lunch on us before they receive their paychecks.
