Because of the virus, backlog of food and supplies, Amazon announed they will hireing a hundred thousand new workers.

I don't know why they need 100,000 workers. There isn't much to buy. I'd say they better get some merchandise first.

The national news reported grocery stores across the country are hiring thousands of people to take care of the demands.

there is plenty of "stuff" in the system. it just needs to get to point of sale. there have been delays due to over-enthusiastic ordering, panic buying and probably more people using Amazon than usual (seniors especially).

things are equalizing: last week,.i ordered some cat food which i was told i would get 3/23 to 3/25. it was just shipped and i'll have 3/17 or 3/18.

People's hoarding is causing the shelves to get bare. I hope after the hoarding starts to slow down, and people get stocked up, we may not need all those 100,000 workers after all.

@ms traditional EXACTLY...............store warehouses hold just so much inventory based on normal purchases. Amazon and their vendors have ample too - heard shortage of truckers - so everything must be in 'balance' to get product to store shelves. Cool down everybody.

Truckers are not immune from the virus. What will happen when there's a real shortage of truck drivers? I think we are in trouble there.

and lets not forget that millions of children will be home across the country for at least the next 2 weeks, so people will have to buy more food then they usually do. sadly, it could get worse, in terms of stores being bare.
