Had a similiar incident but it was with medication. My daughter is a type 1 diabetic and insulin was order via the insurance carrier's mail order service. It was sent and expected to be received as a priority mail within 24 hour since it's packed in ice to preserve it. Waited the entire next day and no insulin. Called the post office 3:30 and they said it was delivered to my address. No package was delivered. They insisted it was scanned and delivered at 11:35. I told them I was home all day and no package arrived plus it was ice packed insulin and wouldn't last more than another day in the weather. I spoke with the post master and told him the matter had to be taken care of immediately as it was a weekend and there would be no mail delivery on a Sunday. It took several hours and I finally got a call from someone at the post office who told me the carrier who scanned the package left his shift for the day. Well, call him at home!!! I don't know what went on but I got a call around 8:00pm that night from a supervisor and they found the package left on the truck but it had been scanned as delivered at 11:35. By 9:00 or so, the doorbell rang and a man driving a USPS truck handed me the package containing the insulin.
So apparently, the carrier scanned the package but never delivered it. It probably got too late in the day and it was close to his shift ending, so he didn't deliver it...even though it's clearly marked as perishable and medication marked on the package.

@ciao_bella Wow...that is a little scary concerning medications not being delivered...especially since some insurance companies push the use of mail order meds...I am so glad you received your package. The lady that delivers my mail is pretty good...I was waiting for an important package and when she arrived around 11:45 she put mail in the box but no package. When I asked about the package she actually informed me that she had too many packages to carry in her vehicle and would have to return back to the Post Office to get my package. She came back around 4:30 pm and finally delivered.

I agree, call Amazon c.s. They are great. I can understand your concern, another "the gift is in the mail" might be hard to understand...lol

I hate it when I have ordered something ,,paid ups prices , for it to be delivered by usps. There is always a delay,,,then I live in a very rural area,,and only very small packages fit into our mailboxes,,When I was still working , this was very inconveient, as I had to wait until the weekend to pick it up as large packages ARE NOT delivered in this area..It does take an extra day or two ,,as the Post office scans it when it is received there and not when it is actually delivered. I really do not like even small packages put into my mailbox as there have been thefts,,I cannot see my mailbox from my house,,,150 foot driveway downhill...so there have been thefts here,,not in my case, but others. I actually track EVERYTHING I order,,call when I see it scanned and have them hold it for me to pick up , no matter what the size,,,now that I am retired I can do this. I haver had about 5 items , sent from QVC, that were lost in the postal system,,compared to ZERO in UPS.

Thank you. I am also going to the post office, I think, as soon as possible and give the "boss" the information I just provided here.

Unless your mailman is dishonest and an idiot, to steal from customers, he’s delivering to, I doubt he’s the culprit!
Sadly, it’s not uncommon for mail box thefts to occur! Good Luck!
Yesterday, I went to the box when the postman pulled away so that did not happen nor did it happen the other time because I took the envelope to the post office. It never reached my next door neighbor nor did it reach my mailbox as a return to sender.

You either certified it or insured it, right? At least that would cover you from both sides. But, as mentioned, Amazon should be helpful. Their customer service is the best.
