UPDATE:  Got my first free shipping package from Walmart.  It was the last batch of items I bought and they did come fast.

BE AWARE:   The box was super study but there was no packing in it.   You might want to be careful when you order about what items you select.  (A bowling ball and a bag of chips probably wouldn't be a good combination.)   On the other hand, Amazon combines orders to suit themselves (and save on their shipping costs) so sometimes I can't lift the box.  on the whole, I'm pleased with the new Walmart service.

I buy different things from Amazon than I buy at WalMart. This won't change my shopping at all.

I just did a drive-through the WM site. Granted, I'm not used to it as I am to Amazon's, but still, it's a hot mess. Hope they improve it.

Walmart has stepped up and is offering free S&H and TWO DAY DELIVERY with $35. purchase PLUS no annual fee!

@febe1, the bought Jet and that's what Jet offers now.  I haven't purchased anything from Jet, I never find anything I want there.

Hi, @itiswhatitis. I just got some advertisements on Jet and haven't looked into it yet. I buy from both Amazon & Walmart. I will continue to check both out for price. When I find something I like, I continue buying the same thing for a while, so I do know Amazon can be much higher in price on some things I buy.

I've never ordered online with WalMart. And I've never been disappointed in my Amazon purchases. So I just have another source for purchases.

@febe1, Jet is not so bad if you can find what you want.  They have the two day shipping once you spend a certain amount.  The last time I looked on Jet, they had a 15% off coupon for your first three orders.  Still couldn't find what I wanted.

That's good to know,  @itiswhatitis.   I've looked at the Jet site a few times and so far haven't found anything I want/need, but wondered what others think of it.    Regarding the topic of Walmart vs. Amazon...   I have a hard time accepting Walmart's practices (things they do to push out local business, poor wages/benefits for employees, etc.) especially since they seem so different from the founder's principles.   I was a real fan when Walmart was under his guidance, and his "associates" truly were a part of the corporate family.   Comparing costs, I keep finding better prices on Walmart's website and even though I've tried Amazon's Prime I don't use their site or products enough to justify the fee.  Both sites change product prices frequently, so it's good to keep checking.   Amazon's shipping is very, very slow for a non-Prime member, while Walmart's is usually fast -- just my experience, and I see after reading many posts here and on other threads it seems to vary a lot.   I've found both of them to have very good customer service.    I think some of our experiences depend on what we want/need to buy and perhaps also on our geographic location.

@dooBdoo, I have ordered from Walmart only one time.  I had no problems with my order and it came in the proper time frame.

I have Prime for a number of reasons:

I share it with my son or daughter so we share the cost of the membership.

I can find just about anything on there and I order a lot from them (including clearance clothing and other fashion items)

They Amazon Services  (this is a program they have instituted that lets you pick from many qualified people to do work around the home or help with an odd job.

Prime Videos

I've been a Prime Member for about six years!

The free 2 day shipping is just a nice extra perk for me. It is not why I am a Prime member. I got it for Prime Video & it has definitely be worth every penny - even if there were no other benefits. Love Prime!

This ^^^^

I rarely if ever buy cleaning supplies, dog food or grocery items from Amazon. What I buy 95% of the time, Walmart doesn't carry or isn't cheaper, and what I buy from Amazon, Walmart doesn't sell.

@willdob3, I agree.  Be careful though there are some items that ship Prime but take a little longer.  The good thing about Amazon Prime is that they will tell you, so there is no guesswork.

In my entire life, I have only been in a WM about ten times.  It may have been just those stores, but I was surprised at how messy they were.

I don't fault anyone who finds bargains and loves shopping there, but it was not a pleasant experience for me.

Shopping online would certainly make the experience better.  I am a shopper on Amazon and have been a Prime member since it came out.

I love ordering from Walmart more than Amazon since I can order every day items to get me over the minimum for the free shipping.   Delivered right to my desk on the 10th floor and most often will have aspirin, hairspray ect.. and the item I wanted special.  No traffic or lines at checkout.  Works for me.   Amazon is fine but I just do not order enough to go prime with them.

I like both outlets but I don't purchase the same products from both so there's no comparison.

@Susan in California

Like most chains, there are good WMs and bad ones. I love the one close to where I live & have shopped there for many years. It is kept very neat & clean.

The employees are friendly & helpful. I rarely pay much attention to other customers but I'd have noticed if they acted strangely.

I'm an Amazon shopper, too, but, as I mentioned, I don't see a contest between Amazon & WM because I purchase from both now. And I'd rather run to WM to pick things up than order - unless it is something not available in the store.
