@Biftu   I shop amazon as well, I have very few returns but when I do Here's how I make sure my amazon returns are handled properly as far as I'm concerned.

I attempted once to return to my kohl's. They botched the entire return. It was a total fiasco because the clerk didn't process it properly. I ended up phoning amazon the minute I got home and the CS there totally took care of what did not happen properly at kohl's.  Never again do I return at other establishments earmarked for amazon returns.  An since I have to still drive myself and my return(s) somewhere, I'm going directly to my UPS to drop off AND for FREE.

I will process a return on amazon return site up to the point of choosing how to return. They are proud to indicate free shipping and free returns. In light of this I am not paying for a label to print and I AM NOT dropping off a return to some stranger at kohl's nor whole foods and not feel good about them wrapping up my returns and sticking a return label on it.

I call amazon and speak to a real CS agent and ask them to email me a free UPS return label. Easily they do it from their place, I print and away I go. Done, no problem.

Wnenever I'm dropping off a return at my local UPS they barely have time to wait on customers because all I see if the clerks wrapping up everyone else's cr*p to return.

My opinion on this to take amazon returns to some other store and even now UPS is I honestly don't trust this system and I don't feel it's now other store employees to take on the responsibility to wrap up returns for total strangers. They don't do this right in front of you so that you can watch them wrap up your package. I know this as a fact at UPS. They'll scan your phone to spew out your label but they do not wrap it up right then and there in front of you to make sure it gets done properly.

Amazon needs to offer the free UPS return label automatically in their return process like they used to do.

A UPS store is the closest to me so it's free, but even if I had to pay the dollar I would still go there for the convenience and ease.

@PINKdogWOOD  I've never seen UPS wrap anything up. They usually toss it in a box. Now Khols put the item in a plastic bag and seal it and give you a coupon.

Amazon began to charge return fees under certain circumstances earlier this year. Whether or not you have a prime membership doesn't determine if you'll be charged a return fee. Below is a partial explanation:

@mspemberley  Well that confirms my experience at UPS.  Thanks for posting.

I've been a Prime Member for 10+ years and make most of my online purchases from them. I can count on 1 hand how many times I've needed to return a product and have never been charged.

But then I'm a responsible shopper who doesn't make superfluous purchases. There will always be irresponsible people in this world who ruin a good thing for everyone else because of their own less than smart behavior.

@sugar plum  My return was for an automatic tea maker as a Christmas gift.  When I visited yesterday he showed me his new tea maker!  So much for giving that gift.  Don't assume people make "superfluous purchases."  I, as well as many others are not irresponsible purchasers, things happen.

I rarely buy from Amazon and would never pay $139 to shop on their site.  It's like going to Macy's and being stopped at the door and being charged a fee to shop there.

Maybe your UPS doesn’t want to handle Amazon returns.. I’ve always wondered if they make any money on Amazon returns.. with Christmas coming they will be busier and will make more money.. from customers in a hurry to get their gifts to the destination…

@TVLand  Seems they are following the new Amazon return policy.  I'm sure other UPS locations will also with this new change.

Our UPS office isn't even open for customers anymore.  But that is their issue, not Amazon's.  So my Kohl's is 90 miles away.  Bottom line is I am dead certain I will not be returning anything.
